<[TheBug]> So this is fun, EBin running Armbian and 4.19.59-mvebu64 and when a USB 3 device is connected to the 'USB 3' blue port on the device
<[TheBug]> You get:
<[TheBug]> root@espressobin:~# lsusb -t
<[TheBug]> |__ Port 1: Dev 3, If 0, Class=Mass Storage, Driver=usb-storage, 480M
<[TheBug]> grr
<[TheBug]> root@espressobin:~# lsusb -t
<[TheBug]> Bus 03.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci-hcd/1p, 5000M
<[TheBug]> Bus 02.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci-hcd/1p, 480M
<[TheBug]> |__ Port 1: Dev 2, If 0, Class=Mass Storage, Driver=usb-storage, 480M
<[TheBug]> Bus 01.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=orion-ehci/1p, 480M
<[TheBug]> okay, so it looks like the device attaches to a USB2 hub and not the USB3 hub like it should
<[TheBug]> is this a DTB thing?
<[TheBug]> possibly?
<[TheBug]> I am certain it is a USB3 device, connected to RPi 4 and SuperSpeed 3.1 and showed 5000M

<[TheBug]> 2. Though the 4.4.x kernels have some sort of support for the usb3 device controller on the espressobin, neither mainline nor the marvell 4.14 kernel do. Which may indicate that the feature does not actually work or will not be supported longer term
<[TheBug]> "
<[TheBug]> meh
<[TheBug]> USB 3.0 is broken and not thoroughly implemented. UAS doesn’t work and the controller tops out at max 4 devices (root + USB hub = 2 real devices). Also booting won’t work with certain USB hubs due to XHCI brokenness.

<PaddyF> morning :)
<Werner> Morning Paddy
<PaddyF> any ideas why the performance of my banana pi m1 is alright for the specs that it has, but package manager operations are awefully slow?
<PaddyF> the forum posts focuses on the search with apt. my search is okay. the package manager operations "apt update", "apt dist-upgrade" and package installs are very slow
<Werner> Hm maybe the storage medium (sd card to say) is the bottleneck?
<PaddyF> for sure, yes. but i remember good days with exact the same hardware
<Werner> Maybe the card getting old?
<PaddyF> maybe i should downgrade to stretch
<PaddyF> do sd-cards get slow when they are aging?
<Werner> I don't know tbh
<PaddyF> me neither, hmmm
<Werner> You can try to use iotop for example to get a better idea what is going on while performing an apt task.
* PaddyF puts iotop on his special packages list
<PaddyF> thanks Werner :)
<Werner> You're welcome

<rdorsch> Can anybody tell if on the armbian mainline image for the cubox-i video replay works reasonably. I build libreelectv git, but this has issues (most likely with mesa).

<Spads> Has anyone here had success with focal on the pinebook pro using current images? I can't seem to get it to boot.
<Miouyouyou> Any message during boot ? I don't know if there's an UART access on Pinebooks.
<Spads> No, blank screen
<Spads> I don't think uboot has display drivers for the thing
<Miouyouyou> It's pretty rare to have HDMI or MIPI drivers on U-boot, indeed.
<Spads> From the forums it looks like this happens occasionally on some builds. I'm just looking to install to emmc so if I can get this up *once* I'll be happy
<Spads> so I'm trying to work out what the last working image may have been
<Spads> which seems to be passed around through lore on the forums occasionally when a thread on it comes up
<Spads> Because I'm not in the mood to torrent and burn several of these to test each one if I can help it.
<Miouyouyou> Oh, it's the legacy kernel one
<Miouyouyou> It might boot better though
<Spads> Armbian_20.05.2_Pinebook-pro_focal_legacy_4.4.213_desktop.img.xz
<Spads> is what I ran
<Miouyouyou> Alright, it's the same one...
<Spads> so yeah that
<Miouyouyou> Hmm, maybe there's others pinebook users here. Just wait a bit, until they come back.
<Spads> I built usbimager because previously I worried it was because I was being all punk with dd, but even after that verified with usbimager it still does this
<Spads> ok
<Spads> thanks
