Hi all, Im wondering why linux-imx 3.0.35 doesn't boot when compiling with gcc4.8 or >

<
vpeter>
kimo: Because of some memset related changes in gcc. You need to apply 2 (or 3 ?) patches for newer gcc.
<
dv^laptop>
kimo: um, any reason why you are using 3.0.35 ?
<
dv^laptop>
nothing newer coming from your BSP supplier?
<
kimo>
vpeter : where can I find those patches ?
<
kimo>
dv^laptop: because I need video support
<
dv^laptop>
you also get that in newer kernels
<
kimo>
dv^laptop: there are lot of changes made on vpu/ipu drivers which still need support under gstreamer
<
dv^laptop>
kimo: do tell
<
dv^laptop>
kimo: I wrote gstreamer-imx , so I am interested
<
dv^laptop>
kimo: but if you are using gstreamer 0.10, you have two problems :)
<
dv^laptop>
linux-imx 3.0.35 is filled to the top with bugs, gstreamer 0.10 is unmaintained, so are the 0.10 fsl plugins
<
kimo>
no Im using gst1.0
<
dv^laptop>
I don't understand. you cannot use coda with 3.0.35
<
kimo>
Im just saying that it still need lot of patches on top of newest kernel, right now,
<
dv^laptop>
yes, but that doesnt mean you should be using 3.0.35
<
dv^laptop>
besides, if you dont want to patch coda, you can still use gstreamer-imx
<
dv^laptop>
just get rid of 3.0.35 . jnettlet can tell you just how horribly broken that kernel is
<
kimo>
no :) but I just don't have time now
<
dv^laptop>
well thats fair
<
dv^laptop>
but keep this in mind
