<vagrantc> i swear, something about the eMMC not working gets in a mood.
<vagrantc> maybe something in rc6 made it more stable ...
* vagrantc tries with rc7

<zzarr> hello! I have a Firefly RK3288 Plus SBC, trying to flash a uboot from this repo git://git.denx.de/u-boot-rockchip.git
<zzarr> I have built it running "make firefly-rk3288_config" and "make"
<zzarr> I get "Loading loader... Loading loader failed!" when running upgrade_tool ul u-boot.img
<zzarr> must I do anything else?
<stdint> zzarr, you flash u-boot in wrong way
<zzarr> should I flash with rkflashkit? *opening link*
<stdint> I didn't confirm whether the rkflashkit works
<stdint> I would rather to know the open source flash tool works but I have no time to test
premoboss has joined #linux-rockchip
<zzarr> no problems
<zzarr> I'll do it the way they do on the page
<zzarr> stdint, I managed to flash my u-boot now :)
<zzarr> but' I still got a problem, the autoboot is set to 0 seconds in the envvars
<stdint> zzarr, it clone the wrong branch
<zzarr> so ether I have to set the envvars by flashing or I have to search for the line of code and force the variable to a few seconds
<zzarr> what clone the wrong branch?

sunilmohan has quit [Changing host]
<stdint> zzarr, you still using the old version
<stdint> the new version won't set autoboot to zero
<zzarr> stdint, okey, so I some how did not flash uboot?
<zzarr> is evb-rk3288_defconfig correct for me?
<zzarr> shouldn't I write firefly-rk3288_config?
<zzarr> I meant firefly-rk3288_defconfig?
nix_ has quit [Quit: Ex-Chat]
<zzarr> stdint, is there a way to wipe the entire emmc?

nnnn20430 has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<ayaka> zzarr, no need
<ayaka> zzarr, I have not tested that with firefly yet, but I think you should use the defconfig for firefly
<ayaka> also you don't need to wipe the emmc just enter into maskrom mode
<zzarr> ayaka, what is maskrom mode?
<ayaka> zzarr, it is a mode to upgrade through program in SROM

<zzarr> ayaka, is it the same thing as recovery mode? (pressing the recovery mode button at start)
<ayaka> zzarr, you need to check the firefly wiki, not the same thing
<zzarr> okey
<ayaka> it would be a little hard and need some hardware hack to enter maskrom
<zzarr> okey, I don't really think I have the hardware for that
<zzarr> nor the knowlage
<zzarr> it's not possible to flash through the recovery mode?
paulk-collins has joined #linux-rockchip
<ayaka> zzarr, not, not really hardware hack
<ayaka> in my memory just short some test points or resisters
<zzarr> I thought you meant solder (surface solder)
<ayaka> not need
<zzarr> are there a header?
<ayaka> you had better to check the wiki, I can't remember now
<zzarr> you have done it yourself?
<ayaka> not in firefly but evb board
premoboss has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
<zzarr> okey
<zzarr> do you really think the only solution is to put it in to mask mode?
<zzarr> I mean it's not bricked
<zzarr> bbl
<ayaka> zzarr, if you are careful
cnxsoft has quit [Quit: cnxsoft]
<zzarr> back
<zzarr> I know, but I don't really see a point in doing it when I can flash it in recovery mode
<zzarr> I think ether my uboot is broken or I put it in the wrong place
<zzarr> so what I need to do is try with a working uboot
<ayaka> zzarr,I don't think so, but it is too late here
<ayaka> I would rather talk about this later, you could also ask the other guys for helping
<zzarr> ayaka, thanks for your help

<vagrantc> rperier: when you're testing your veyron-speedy, does it have everything built as built-ins, or modules?
<vagrantc> rperier: mine *seems* to detect emmc reliably when usb support is enabled as a buitl-in, but when it's a module it's inconsistant
<vagrantc> so, with rockchip.usb_uart (which requires usb to be built-in) it seems to work consistantly
<vagrantc> at least, that's my best guess, based on the results
<vagrantc> another related guess is a timing issue, maybe with usb enabled as built-ins the timing is different, and emmc is detected appropriately.
<vagrantc> mmind00: ^^ any thoughts??
dlezcano has joined #linux-rockchip
<vagrantc> well, scratch that theory ... just had two failed boots even with usb as a built-in.
<vagrantc> still never had it failed with the console set as usb_uart
<vagrantc> gah. had a failure with usb_uart, but didn't have the cable plugged in
* vagrantc mutters about heisenbugs

<vagrantc> ok, finally managed to catch it while the serial console was connected...
<vagrantc> ok, two boot failure logs:
<vagrantc> and for comparison, a successful log
<vagrantc> fwiw, it typically fails to poweroff, too
<vagrantc> [ 238.895274] reboot: Power down
<vagrantc> [ 239.930273] rk3x-i2c ff650000.i2c: timeout, ipd: 0x10, state: 1
<vagrantc> [ 239.936189] rk808 0-001b: power off error!

<karlp> hrm, I got a linaro RFS "working" so I've got a stock android kernel, edited params and cmdline to boot from an RFS on sdcard (presumably need rk_nand crap in an initrd to use it from onboard nand, as it's not a kernel builtin) and I get an ubuntu bootup console log, so it's _outputting_ to the right usart2, but then it just shows me a prompt but isn't accepting any keys entered.
<karlp> I had the command line as console=/dev/ttyS2, changing it to ttyFIQ0 maks systemd hang trying to start it
