<a3Dman>
well, from my testing, google now and snapseed are the only apps derping
<angelsl>
isn't EXIF like a public standard?
sunri5e has quit [Quit: Every end has a new beginning.]
<a3Dman>
and I'm quite sure it's about EXIF, but I don't know what EXIF parameters should be there for these apps to be happy...
<angelsl>
i think these apps are badly parsing the EXIF
<angelsl>
either that or the new HAL is writing badly formed EXIF data
<a3Dman>
doesn't write complete data, but why would snapseed care for that?
<angelsl>
it's probably naively parsing the EXIF expecting everything to be there?
<a3Dman>
maybe, that means all Android manufacturers respect EXIF...
<a3Dman>
angelsl: both apps are closed source, hard to know how parsing happens
<angelsl>
snapseed is java
<angelsl>
easy to decompile, and if not, just read the bytecode disassembly

also, "Few months ago, keep hearing people switching to Samsung. Nowadays keep hearing about it being their last Samsung."
<GNUtoo-m4a785t-m>
angelsl, what do they switch to then?
<angelsl>
samsung's losing popularity in the mainstream users too
<angelsl>
have no idea
<angelsl>
sony? iPhone? LG?
<Espenfjo>
angelsl: the new HAL doesnt do exif at all afaik
<a3Dman>
well, I think exynos_exif.c should be completed to avoid such issues, right now it gives make, model, date/time, gps, orentation and new stuff
<Espenfjo>
hm
<angelsl>
what was the issue paulk had?
<Espenfjo>
I need to retest stuff
<a3Dman>
Espenfjo: it does, but nothing about iso, lens, flash, exposure, metering, etc
<angelsl>
lol
<angelsl>
i wish i had more time
<Espenfjo>
The last picture I looked at had nothing
<a3Dman>
the question is how to get these values
<Espenfjo>
angelsl: Me too
<Espenfjo>
(I wish you had more time)
<Espenfjo>
:D
<a3Dman>
everyone needs time it seems :)
<a3Dman>
the file has FIXME also
<a3Dman>
just noticed it now lol
<angelsl>
bleh
<a3Dman>
I think that's the only thing stopping OSS HAL from being complete
<a3Dman>
(if we talk about functionality)
<a3Dman>
I don't know if there's remanning issues or not with camera
<angelsl>
what's there to talk about other than functionality?
<angelsl>
image quality seems the same
<a3Dman>
it's
<angelsl>
hmm
<angelsl>
yeah, Espenfjo is right
<angelsl>
there is no exif at all
<angelsl>
other than phone manufacturer and model
<a3Dman>
not even Make/Model?
<a3Dman>
ah
<a3Dman>
well, then there's EXIF
<a3Dman>
but not all
<a3Dman>
:)
<angelsl>
there's no useful exif!
<a3Dman>
yes, but theres EXIF!!
<a3Dman>
it just needs to get completed
<a3Dman>
I don't know how to get lens parms myself
<cdesai>
Espenfjo: that game which crashed for you?
<cdesai>
lol
<Espenfjo>
yeah, still does

and gets updates as fast as possible
<w00tc0d3>
codeworkx: over 2 years, Exynos is running better on it, with a more recent Android. Because N4 is fill of blobs, and Exynos is 90% opensource, at that time
<codeworkx>
where's the problem?
<codeworkx>
w00tc0d3: eh... exynos4 is still a black box
<codeworkx>
w00tc0d3: and it's nearly 2 years now
<w00tc0d3>
I believe JBQ even said N4 isn't officially supported in AOSP, codeworkx
<codeworkx>
but it's running great ;-)
<codeworkx>
my s3 isn't running great

n4 > s3

imho

but my classmate has a N4

ADB over network appears offline on 4.2.2 on my Galaxy S
<sogard>
Any ideas how to troubleshoot it?
<bealtine>
did you update the sdk?
<sogard>
Yeah...
<sogard>
I did.
<sogard>
Can it be because of that?
<bealtine>
yes
<bealtine>
what version of adb have you got?
<bealtine>
adb version
<sogard>
Let me look.
<codeworkx>
1.0.31 is needed

ADB over wifi is so much better.
<bealtine>
never tried that so dunno
<sogard>
I'm not so good at networking. Can someone help me debug this?
<sogard>
I have no idea if adb is sending stuff through the network or not.
<bealtine>
not right now..wrestling with some hairy code and just looked in for a sec
<sogard>
I hate networks...
<bealtine>
do you have a valid ip on the phone?
<sogard>
Yes.
<sogard>
I wouldn't connect otherwise.
<sogard>
Because it does connect.
<sogard>
Idk if they can communicate.

codeworkx, hi
<dpm>
hi codeworkx, I've got a couple of questions about building the code for the Galaxy S SCL (i9003), and I read on the forum that you're the person to ping :)
<dpm>
First of all, I've noticed that some of the code is on this set of repos -> https://github.com/dhiru1602, but they're also on https://github.com/teamhacksung. Do I understand it correctly that the dhiru1602 is where development happens, then they are merged to the trunk at teamhacksung, and if I want to build a stable image I should use the i9003 repos from teamhacksung?

<sogard>
I develop a game on the galaxy s.-_-
<Espenfjo>
wtf?
<dpm>
Espenfjo, well, where I live they were still sold a few months ago, and I'm surely not going to throw it away :)
<sogard>
I don't have any money for a new phone.
<sogard>
I need to finish developing the game until I will afford another one.

<sogard>

<Espenfjo>
I know everything about networking, but nothing about adb :P
<sogard>
I have no idea how to see the communication between the laptop and the phone.
<sogard>
I wanna see if the phone can respond.
<sogard>
Developing on the Galaxy S really sucks.
<sogard>
Especially games.
<sogard>
Can someone help me pls?
