A higher level way of describing an iCE40 configuration than an ASC file

Built as a GSoC project last summer, IIRC

kc8apf: I like how you are raging about the "openness" of EtherCAT like me ;)

G33KatWork: I loathe organizations using "open" when they mean royalty-free, pay-to-play, etc

kc8apf: better than VESA, who try and claim DisplayPort as open

with several thousands in membership fees needed in reality

<gruetzkopf>
yeah
<gruetzkopf>
modern DP versions are unobtainable
<gruetzkopf>
anything with multistream and high-speed aux channels
<daveshah>
I was able to find DP1.3
<daveshah>
nothing beyond that, when I looked
<shapr>
is that why it's so hard to find support for displayport1.3 or later?
<gruetzkopf>
the gfx vendors are all VESA members
<gruetzkopf>
newer DP versions are less simple than old stuff if you want complete support
<pie_>
rqou, adam replied saying that he will try to scan them in when things calm down at work so yay \o/
<balrog>
gruetzkopf: you mean DP 1.4?

DP 1.2 at least is open

iirc, DP 1.2+ is required for multimonitor on the same port
<azonenberg>
multimonitor on one port? why would you do that
<azonenberg>
vs just having two ports
<daveshah>
laptops
<shapr>
I was hoping to drive two monitors from a mini-DP

azonenberg: chaining 3-4 monitors is very convenient
<azonenberg>
kc8apf: i've always just used multi-output video cards
<azonenberg>
and run everything point to point
<shapr>
I don't have a desktop, I do everything on my laptop
<shapr>
With this laptop (ThinkPad P50), the dock has sufficient ports to run a bunch of monitors, but with the last one (ThinkPad X230) I did not, so was hoping to run two monitors over DP1.2+
