<arefaslani> I read that this statement "gem 'thegem', require: fasle" will install but not require the gem. Is that mean that if I write "gem 'faker'" I can use the faker gem without require it in the ruby file? I have tested and get another response!
<arefaslani> main.rb:3:in `<main>': uninitialized constant Faker (NameError)

<deepender> anyone here?
rjhunter has quit [Ping timeout: 272 seconds]
<deepender> @indirect:
<deepender> can you tell
<deepender> what actually is the requirement here?

<deepender> @ckrailo
<deepender> :
<deepender> there
<ckrailo> not sure what the question is, but it will likely need to wait for indirect… who i think just went to sleep.
<ckrailo> arefasla_: you have to require ‘bundler/setup’ in your ruby file
<arefasla_> ckrailo : I did that, but calling "puts Faker::Name.first_name" still throws same error.
<arefasla_> In my ptoject I have two files. A gemfile with only one gem: faker, and a ruby file with two lines. Line 1: require 'bundler/setup' and line 2: puts Faker::Name.first_name
<arefasla_> when I run it, it throws uninitialized constant Faker (NameError)

<deepender> @ckrailo:
<ckrailo> arefasla_: oh sorry, i misspoke. require ‘bundler/setup’ adds to your load path. you still have to require ‘faker'
<deepender> just a simple question in this feature : https://github.com/bundler/bundler-features/issues/33
<deepender> is it like this:
<deepender> .g When I do bundle in rails repository is gives me all the gem installed like:
<deepender> Using webrobots (0.1.1) , similarly others.
<deepender> So you want this feature's write count of no. gem which are being used. like her it will be 34 gems installed.
<ckrailo> arefasla_: alternatively: Bundler.require(:default) (see http://bundler.io/v1.5/bundler_setup.html)

<ckrailo> deepender: this is just my interpretation of indirect, so of course i recommend you confirm this with indirect (maybe by commenting on the issue)… but it sounds like instead of having 5 lines of “Using foo (1.0.0)”, you’d have “Using 5 gems”… but it’d still print “Installing bar (2.0.0)” when installing gems.
<deepender> okey
<deepender> ckrailo:
<deepender> ckrailo: I will confirm it from indirect, what I understood is this:
<deepender> writing installing
<deepender> but for the gem which is using just writing their count in the end
<ckrailo> Yeah. Probably with a message regarding --verbose for details too.
<ckrailo> (And with that, I'm going AFK for some sleep.)
<deepender> good night :)

<Gate> after using bundle package --all, bundle update gem_name doesn't seem to work when the gem is from a github repo. Is there something I am missing or an option should be passing to update?
