<krainboltgreene> Okay, so why is bundler completely screwing my version numbers?
<krainboltgreene> rake release seems to take 1.0.0-rc2, a completely valid SEMVER, and turns it into 1.0.0.rc2
<krainboltgreene> Sorry, turns it into 1.0.0.pre.rc2
havenwood has joined #bundler
<krainboltgreene> Which is absolutely not SEMVER.

<tmoore> I just responded on https://github.com/bundler/bundler/issues/3101 but it's Rubygems doing that, not Bundler
<krainboltgreene> Grumble grumble, one of the ruby gems people told me it wasn't ruby gems doing that.
<krainboltgreene> Well, now I've got proof, thanks tmoore.
adaleigh has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<krainboltgreene> tmoore: Regardless of if this is in the realm of ruby gems or not, bundler is the one that uses that format of the version to tag, create the file, and name.
<krainboltgreene> What happens if Rubygems starts doing serialization on that value? Something that's not acceptable for a file name or git tag?

<tmoore> what would you suggest?
<krainboltgreene> Using the version I provide?
<tmoore> By parsing the gemspec some other way?
<tmoore> Then it wouldn't match what's on rubygems.org
<krainboltgreene> But that's not the truth anyways, so why care what they say?
<tmoore> Because that's what you'd need to use to declare dependencies
<tmoore> I think that what Rubygems considers the version to be should be considered definitive
<tmoore> but in any case, I don't think we want to implement a parallel gemspec parser in Bundler just for this edge case
<tmoore> What these rake tasks do is really very simple https://github.com/bundler/bundler/blob/master/lib/bundler/gem_helper.rb

<jonathanlthorpe> HI, I'm having a problem when running "rails new ."
<jonathanlthorpe> I'm using OS X 10.9.4
<jonathanlthorpe> the problem is whenever Gemfile contains source 'https://rubygems.org' I get a network error
<jonathanlthorpe> not reported as an SSL error
<jonathanlthorpe> when I change it tosource 'http://rubygems.org' it works
x1337807x has joined #bundler
<jonathanlthorpe> When using https the error reported is
<jonathanlthorpe> Fetching source index from https://rubygems.org/ Resolving dependencies... Network error while fetching https://rubygems.org/quick/Marshal.4.8/sass-rails-4.0.3.gemspec.rz
<jonathanlthorpe> Any ideas? Switching to http is a workaround but I'd prefer not to do it
