IteratorP: no, but if you add Bundler to the Gemfile, it can check that you're using the right version

I've got a Gemfile with the usual rubygems.org source and the github-pages gem. When I bundle install, it downloads some of the dependencies but then it blocks and stops

An error occurred while installing ffi (1.9.3), and Bundler cannot continue.
<furious>
Make sure that `gem install ffi -v '1.9.3'` succeeds before bundling.
<furious>
But `gem install ffi -v '1.9.3'` works perfectly fine

On my server, crontab does this: "cd /the_app_directory && RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec rake the_task > /tmp/test_output" ... test output says, "Could not find rake-10.1.1 in any of the sources" which is the error I get when I run `rake the_task` but I don't get it when I run `bundle exec rake the_task` ... so is this an environmental issue?
