teo__, u wrong. core us ARMv7, the sale om both A10 and A20. If kernel is compiled for SMP, then no problemo, otherwise u will "see" only one core, just that.

user_2: I read on the FAQ: "Can I install Cubieboard image on Cubieboard2? . Cubieboard2 has slightly upgraded hardware. So, it need different kernel(rootfs can be shared).". But if is able to boot and install on nand, recompiling the kernel should'nt be hard :) Thank you!

teo__: the thing that has to stay is the boot setup that initializes the hardware, loads and passes control to a working kernel; all of the userspace can be replaced, completely

I'm pretty sure cubian won't work (yet anyway), the existing kernels for an a10/a13/a10s won't work on an a20. you can compile a kernel (only 3.3 for now) and u-boot for the cubie2 though (you can cross-compile or use qemu-user-arm to do that quickly enough on a regular linux machine)

I'm looking at the install.sh script... It seem that it will install an ext4 filesystem on the nand. So for now cubian is not an option.

well wait and see the state of affairs by the time your cubie2 arrives. people have only started getting their hands on useful a20s (olimex and cubie2) pretty recently so things might move quickly

i do not, but my mom works at an electronics shop... they do instrumentation, panels, downhole tools etc. so not sure they'd have mad SMD/BGA stuff

i installed ubuntu ( 2 versions) and raspberry. In each case is no network connection (ping, browser). I cant check the configuration, because I dont know user-id and password
