I'm a noob to equipment, but I am sorta around, prepping dinner
<
CoolCmos>
well i have no experience with equipment at all
<
CoolCmos>
im wondering costs and types
<
CoolCmos>
i was reading on lithography machines but there was no cost info.. and also i wondered about depostition equipment
<
CoolCmos>
and the removal chemical equipment
<
SpeedEvil>
In general, very, very expensive.
<
CoolCmos>
even used older models
<
CoolCmos>
what kind of equipment can i get for 10k
<
SpeedEvil>
for example. (not working)
<
sync>
probably some old contact aligner
<
SpeedEvil>
What are you wanting the equipment for.
<
SpeedEvil>
If you are hoping to make your own chips, basically nothing, unless you get very, very lucky
<
SpeedEvil>
You may be able to make chips with a dozen devices on, with 'minimal' investment.
<
CoolCmos>
i saw jeris videos years ago when in college
<
CoolCmos>
some could be improvised like .. well not as primitive as jeri.. but still could be improvised like solvent tanks for mask removal and such
<
sync>
you have to get them metal ion free
<
CoolCmos>
but still deposition and lithography i dont see how it could be done else wise
<
sync>
which is the tricky part

YOu can in principle do optical resists quite cheaply.
<
SpeedEvil>
And vacuum chambers and ... similarly.
<
SpeedEvil>
Contamination control is probably the major issue
