<Noxz> sooooo coooool.. just discovered magnetic scales for DROs.. sony has the "Magnescale" .. basically magnetic tape encoded with a frequency and a head that travels with the carriage/whichever and reads the signal.. you can soooo easily hack that up for super cheap.. like go to any thrift store and get a tape reader/recorder.. resolution of better than 0.5 microns
