JBD1986: I didn't revisit this but I think we don't have 2D accel
<otavio>
JBD1986: I recall of discussing something related in past but don't recall the details

otavio, do you know what version of xorg is being used in freescales yocto BSP? can you point me to a link?
<otavio>
JBD1986: same as Dora
<otavio>
JBD1986: they base it on Dora
<otavio>
git.freescale.com has the layer
obinou has joined #imx6-dev
<JBD1986>

JBD1986: As already mentioned the xorg acceleration is done through the EXA driver which implements the minimal extensions for solid fill, copy, compositing. I suggest you read up on X extensions to understand what support is provided.
<JBD1986>
jas-hacks, I'm aware of the minimal extension support
<JBD1986>
jas-hacks, I'm trying to figure out if other users are experiencing the same issue as me
<JBD1986>
jas-hacks, I.E. is this performance expected. Or is my board mis-configured
<jas-hacks>
JBD1986: I think that is the level of performance you are going to get.
<JBD1986>
have you viewed the youtube video?
<JBD1986>
Also, do you notice tearing on the window while moving it? I didn't notice this until recently
<jas-hacks>
you video is not uploaded, but yes tearing is visible on window drags
<JBD1986>
and you DO have the high CPU usage while dragging windows correct?
<JBD1986>
large windows being dragged rapidly i'm referring to
<jas-hacks>
yes CPU rises while dragging rapidly
<jas-hacks>
JBD1986: you may get better results with KDE because it supports GLES
<JBD1986>
jas-hacks, i'm going to try other window managers
<JBD1986>
I was talking to Gary Segal of Freescale and he reported no lag with Metacity
<JBD1986>
Granted, some definitions of "no lag" will not match others lol
<jas-hacks>
JBD1986: the problem with Metacity is that it is very heavy and runs slow
<jas-hacks>
JBD1986: another thing missing is support for triple buffering. There is a shadow buffer option but is seems to disable the EXA extensions.
