<aholler> progress, xbmc now segfaults. Problem was the FEH.py did check for something it knows, but it doesn't know native imx and /dev/galcore had wrong permission

<aholler> and libcec from imx-lib doesn't seem to be compatible with the normal libcec
stunpix has quit [Ping timeout: 276 seconds]
<vpeter> aholler: which libcec are you talking about? Use this one https://github.com/xbmc-imx6/libcec
<vpeter> or just "normal" libcec + imx6 support patch
<aholler> imx-lib brings it own libcec.
<aholler> and that isn't compatible
<aholler> anyway, currently I seem to have problems with compiling xbmc again. ffmpeg now fails.
<vpeter> I see. Openelec doesn't use that and I'm not very familiar with all this.
<aholler> have to disable automatic update of the git. The branch I use seems to change a lot while old commits are disappearing (forced update, likely rebased)
<aholler> hmm, looks like ffmpeg fails to compile if -g is in CFLAGS

<aholler> Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
<aholler> 0x762df1fc in gcoOS_InitLocalDisplayInfo () from /usr/lib/libGAL.so
<aholler> there I am with xbmc
<aholler> oh
<aholler> shit, I've reinstalled the libs inbetween which changed them to x11
<aholler> i see something, broken, but something is there ;)
<aholler> adding ,bpp=16 helped
<vpeter> excellent :)
<aholler> looks good, simtel seems to play, just no sound. But will fix that too.
<aholler> first by just disabling spdif and analog in the kernel ;)
<vpeter> What you know the best.
<aholler> xbmc's menu was greyed out, changing the kernel is already done, much faster than trying to play with the alsa-configuration ;)
<aholler> plays now with sound. smoothless. haven't thought that
<aholler> time for adding working cec
<vpeter> btw: which hw you use?
<aholler> wandboard quad
<aholler> c1 with working cec (at least the imx-cec-test did power of the tv
<aholler> therfor no edid
<vpeter> talking about cec: is there any device which would emulate cec (to use instead of tv)? For testing purpose.
<aholler> an arduino maybe
fossxplorer has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<vpeter> Not sure if this is it. From what i see it's like pulse eight cec adapter. But will look more carefully.

<aholler> hmm, how are the xbmc-people in regard to patches? Does it make sense to build and feed them some to use -std=gnu++11?
<vpeter> ask them in #xbmc ?
<aholler> I would like an independent guess. If you would ask any kernel maintainer, they would tell you that posting patches is always good. But it's just utterly painful :/
<aholler> hdmi sound died for some unknown reason :/
<vpeter> I think all this applies for xbmc devs also :)
<vpeter> cec: let me find what you need.
<vpeter> mhm, which kernel version you using? we have patch for 3.14
<aholler> yes, looks more like some kernel problem. I'm currently using 3.10.17
<aholler> [ 1726.156381] imx-hdmi-audio imx-hdmi-audio: HDMI Video is not ready!
<aholler> [ 1726.156399] imx-hdmi-audio imx-hdmi-audio: ASoC: can't open platform imx-hdmi-audio: -22
<vpeter> and post from mk01.
<aholler> in regard to cec? I've already the new cec lib, just have to recompile xbmc to test
<vpeter> There are some kernel patches.
<vpeter> libcec is fine.
<aholler> will see if I will need them
<vpeter> Yes, something like that.
<aholler> also have to try if xbmc works when I link directly to -fb versions of the imx-lib
<aholler> don't want to switch always by changing symlinks from fb to x11 and vice-versa
<aholler> anyway, first step with accelerated graphics done.
<aholler> now just "x11" is missing and I can start to use that thingy really. Hopefully
<vpeter> For what? Desktop machine?
<aholler> mainly headless as inhouse mail, db, www, and whatever server
<vpeter> Ok.
<aholler> but I don't want to reboot, therefor I'm first playing with the graphics
<aholler> reboot is usually just once a week, when a new stable kernel appears
<aholler> if it ever will end up with mainline, which might be hardest to solve problem
<aholler> building usefull patches for use on top of mainline looks time-consuming
<aholler> not what I had in mind when I've decided to use an i.mx
<aholler> had the impression it can't be that worse ;)

<aholler> dv_: btw, chrome(-unstable) currently just kills my f19-desktop completly, so I have an idea how much you have to do with chromium. ;)
<aholler> maybe I'll try it on the i.mx6 when I've managed to get a usable kde
