<victhor>
I was thinking about ways to reduce my sabre lite's standby power consumption. What if I connect EN on the 2.5V regulator to a GPIO pin that is set to 0 during suspend. Would it even work?

dv_: did you test chromium with wayland?
icanicant has joined #imx6-dev
<dv_>
yeah. does not run so nice, compared to x11. but, wayland gives you vsync.
<dv_>
the performance issues probably come from some inefficiencies in the driver. v5 drivers fared much better, but they are beta quality.
<dv_>
(hint to everybody: don't patch kernels that contain v4 drivers with v5 beta drivers and expect something stable!)
<jas-hacks>
dv_: do you apply the ozone patches on top of chromium?
<dv_>
yes
<dv_>
its all in the meta-browser recipe
<dv_>
you must be careful to pick compatible chromium and ozone-wayland versions. this can be very tricky.
<dv_>
both are fast moving targets.
<jas-hacks>
dv_: must take ages to build? what spec machine are you using?
<dv_>
takes about 1-2 hours on my machine (16 GB RAM, core i5 2500K quad)
<dv_>
I recommend getting at least 16 GB. you can do it with 8, but then, disk cache goes down.
<dv_>
oh, and you need a 64 bit machine.
<dv_>
gotta go, ttyl
<jas-hacks>
dv_: thanks

<shogunx>
hi jas-hacks. i enjoyed your utilite articles. i have your jessie image running on mine.
<jas-hacks>
shogunx: great
<shogunx>
what kernel source tree are you using on that? the first time I installed and dist-upgraded, boot hung on udev. i removed udev, so now it boots, but no X and no eth1 without udev. iirc, there are kernel options the newer udev needs that are not in compulabs kernel. i reinstalled, and did not dist-upgrade, but would still like to build a new kernel with the options udev needs.
<shogunx>
if you have a link to the source tree and config.gz, it would help tremendously!
<jas-hacks>
shogunx: don't do a dist-upgrade it will most likely fail
<jas-hacks>
shogunx: are you using the 3.10.17_GA jessie?

<shogunx>
3.10.9-1.0.0 jas-hacks
<shogunx>
using stock compulab kernel
<shogunx>
basis fb X is all i really need on this box. it is acting as a console/boot server for 4 parallella nodes.
<shogunx>
yeah, i held off on the dist-upgrade. upgraded bash, and a few other packages, but not udev.
<shogunx>
new kernel needs to be in place before upgrading udev.
<jas-hacks>
shogunx: that one is old, better to try 3.10.17_GA but you need a matching kernel. I'm not sure whether compulabs have a 3.10.17 kernel but I thought they had one.
<shogunx>
same required for the kernel tree linked here ^^
<shogunx>
?
<jas-hacks>
shogunx: yes

<frsc1>
Hi! I'm trying to play HTML5 video in webkit on i.MX6. I'm using webkit 2.4.5, gstreamer-1.4.1 and the gstreamer-imx plugins from dv_. Playback with the vpu works fine with gst-launch, but in webkit I get: uridecodebin gsturidecodebin.c:939:unknown_type_cb:<uridecodebin0> warning: No decoder available for type 'video/x-vp8, width=(int)800, height=(int)480, pixel-aspect-ratio=(fraction)1/1, framerate=(fraction)25/1'.
<frsc1>
Anyone has done that?
