Hi. Quick question about RockPro64. Will there be an update tarball for this or do I have to flash the disk image? Will I lose my settings and installed addons?
<GNU\colossus>
kekePower, don't know about that device, but with the Raspberry images, both the tarballs and image files upgraded LE non-destructively for me in the past
<kekePower>
GNU\colossus Did you use dd or some other tool?
<GNU\colossus>
no, I just placed the image in the designated "updates go here"-directory (forgot the path, to be honest :)) on the rootfs and rebooted
<GNU\colossus>
the LE boot process picks up the files in there and applies them, then reboots into the new release
<kekePower>
Thanks. I'll give that a try.
<kekePower>
it's in ~/.update :-)
<GNU\colossus>
there's a SMB share available, called "update"
<GNU\colossus>
I guess that points to the same dir :)
<kekePower>
did you unpack the update or leave it as .gz?
<GNU\colossus>
leave it as-is
<kekePower>
rebooting now :-)
<kekePower>
A smooth update. Thanks GNU\colossus
<GNU\colossus>
yeah, did it work as expected? :) great!
<kekePower>
All good

please don't forget that LE doesn't understand "~"
<DaVu>
you have to use the full path IIRC: /storage/.update

lrusak, hey there, one last question about transmission on docker. It's not a problem to set shortcut of external HDD for /downloads (complete/incomplete) with your addon. But with this service addon, I get an error - operaton not permited. It's not possible to write in these folders(shortcut to external HDD)
<kre10>
Can you suggest something, please?
<kekePower>
"~" works fine on my machine

I have libreELEC installed on a raspberry pi with a USB hard drive plugged into it. I would like all of the media to be stored on the external drive. Is editing /etc/fstab to mount the drive there instead of the default location the way to do this, or is there a better/preferred way?

<lrusak>
thefinn93, you cannot edit /etc/fstab
<lrusak>
if the drive has a label it will be mounted under a persistent mount under /var/media/
<thefinn93>
yes, i see that. How can I make Kodi scan that directory for media? I have mkvs on there that I would like to show up as tv shows, but they're only in the file browser
<lrusak>
thefinn93, you have to add the directory as a source
