<adema> anarsoul, so i've tried mesa 21.0.0 and the coloring issue still happens on my potato board
<adema> i.e.: you told me to try latest master from git but that was easier for me to create packages from 21.0.0 for my distrib
<adema> and 21.0.0 is fairly recent right?
<anarsoul> nope
<anarsoul> please try git master
<anarsoul> it was branched quite a while ago and there were some fixes after that

<enunes> adema: what coloring issue?
kaspter has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<adema> So I am using linux5.11.6 with lima 21.0.0 without specific Xorg configuration; Just starting xfce4 and kodi. On my external TV set, the blue is somehow green, and green is very flashy. Unfortunately, when I do take a screenshot, the colors are fine. I have shared some manually taken pictures with my phone previously. I will try to find them back
<adema> picture quality is rather bad, I'll give you that and it reality the colors seems weirder than what it looks on the photo.
<adema> I'll try to find a high end camera to provide better pictures if that is useful
<enunes> adema: there were some related changes in https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/8549 which are not in 21.0.0 , but I'm not sure they would affect the level of color detail you mean
<adema> I will try latest master later today
<enunes> honestly I cant see a problem in your photo, but maybe its just the photo
<adema> The flashy green hat is not suppose to be flashy
<adema> just green
<enunes> did you try libreelec for that application? I think they are using lima in a lot of targets and usually they report issues with kodi, there haven't been any recently
<adema> and the bottom right corner of the background should be dark blue
<adema> this is a screenshot
<adema> with the correct colors
<enunes> I wonder if its a display thing rather than lima (lima doesn't have anything to do with display) since the screenshot is ok
<adema> so a htmi driver issue or something?
<adema> I use this TV monitor with another computer everything day and the colors are correct
<enunes> yeah maybe its worth trying master first or try using kodi through libreelec to get some more data
<enunes> hdmi is nothing to do with lima in these boards
<adema> Sure ok
<enunes> it could be some more issues with sampling textures in lima but then I think (1) the glitches would be far worse than a couple of "wrong" colors and (2) I think it would show up in the screenshot too
<adema> To be honest I am just an end user, I don't really know where the problem is coming from. Just asking randomly for help^^
<enunes> adema: maybe the images from here https://test.libreelec.tv/
<adema> Thanks i'll try that
<adema> ultimately I want to use the distribution of my choice but in the mean time if that helps figure out what is going on, i'll surely test librelec!
<enunes> to be fair I don't particularly want to endorse it but since they seem to be keeping track of the lima and kodi setup with up to date mesa, if it works there then I would suggest your issue is something else in your current distribution setup

<rellla> adema: what board is that?
<adema> potato board / amlogic s905x
Barada has joined #lima
<rellla> so there are plenty of patches, which are applied by libreelec regarding the kernel, for example https://github.com/LibreELEC/LibreELEC.tv/blob/master/projects/Amlogic/patches/linux/amlogic-0005-HACK-drm-meson-add-YUV422-output-support.patch , which one smells highly to be the right one ...
<rellla> my strong guess is, that this is a display/hdmi issue...
<adema> Thanks! I can try to build a kernel with some of those patches and see what's what

<anarsoul> adema: btw, if you open a screenshot on your board do you still se flashy colors?
<anarsoul> or screenshot is OK?
<enunes> they mentioned the screenshot has the correct colors
<adema> well, I only opened the screenshot on another computer
<anarsoul> try opening it on the board?
<adema> yep I will
<adema> Just tried and yeah if I open the screenshot on the board displayed on the TV monitor, colors are wrong
<anarsoul> then it's display driver issue, not lima
<adema> thank you :)
