<jbrunet> warpme_: If your card does not probe w/o any error shown, it is likely that one the codec driver of the card is missing
<jbrunet> and yes, 4.19 patches should still apply

<warpme_> jbrunet: I compared 4.20 config with 4.19 confid in respect of codecs. list is exactlt the same. looking on dmesg from 4.20 I see however following line: meson-audio-core c1105400.audio: Failed to create c1105400.audio debugfs directory
<warpme_> probably debugfs in my 4.20 build is more wide. I see also i.e. meson-drm d0100000.vpu: Failed to create d0100000.vpu debugfs directory
<brads> warpme_: do not worry about the debugfs issue its benign, I am about to try some audio on gxbb also (odroid c2)
<brads> jbrunet: should I persist with simple audio card for the C2 or do you have plans for future gxbb? I admire your work on the axg and also meson clk's and what might become :)

<xdarklight> chewitt: re 32-bit video output: it still hates me and only gives me a black screen. my current plan is to wait for narmstrong to return from his (well deserved) vacation so I can discuss better debugging techniques than "let's copy that register values from OSD2 to OSD1 and hope that this fixes all problems - oh and since that didn't work let's comment some more code..."
<chewitt> sounds like a good idea :)
<xdarklight> yes, and I hope it's going to be less frustrating ;)

<jbrunet> brads: Like the axg, the gx series also has no sort of routing between the FIFOs and the encoders. This will require DPCM which simple-card does not support. We also multi-codec support, to handle HDMI, internal and external DAC simultaneously. Last time I checked, simple card does not provide this either. The card driver for the GX series might be able to re-use the axg card, with a few changes
<jbrunet> The problem with GX sound arch (which is now legacy, the s905x2 re-use the AXG arch) is that it is a bit messy
<jbrunet> 's/no sort/some sort'
