<Darkmatter66> Hi narmstrong I'm trying to boot the kernel from 150balbes
<Darkmatter66> narmstrong, beacuase it contains out of tree patches, but I'm not getting output to HDMI
<Darkmatter66> narmstrong, the drm driver is loaded but no output on the screen
<Darkmatter66> narmstrong, dmesg log: https://0x0.st/zPOf.json
<Darkmatter66> narmstrong, modetest output http://0x0.st/zPOy.txt
<chewitt> Darkmatter66: put "video=HDMI-A-1:1920x1080@60" in boot params
<chewitt> see if it makes a difference

<Darkmatter66> chewitt, you pointed me in the right direction, I had "video=1920x1080@60" in the kernel command line, removing them solved the problem
<Darkmatter66> chewitt, only now the font is very small maybe I need to force the mode you mentioned to have a big font
<chewitt> nope
<chewitt> welcome to 4k screens
<chewitt> if you put "video=HDMI-A-1:1920x1080@60" in boot params it will cap HDMI at 1080p
<chewitt> so the text is normal size again .. but no 4k loveliness
<chewitt> (not that 4k is fully working yet)
<Darkmatter66> chewitt, yes I know that it will limit the resolution but at least i can read :)
<Darkmatter66> chewitt, do you know how I can force the mode with modetest without rebooting
<Darkmatter66> I tried "modetest -M meson -s 33:1920x1080-60" but I'm getting the colorful test pattern
<chewitt> that's what it does .. mode .. test
<chewitt> i'm not sure there's an equivalent to "modetest" (on Intel kit)
<chewitt> modeset ^
<Darkmatter66> I think I'm just missing the format parameter so it should be something like this "modetest -M meson -s 33:1920x1080-60@format" but I don't know what are the supported formats by drm_meson
