<Astralix1>
naobsd, what for a box is this? The testpads only mention suppies, the large FFC looks like LCD and the small one should be for a touchpanel.
<naobsd>
old model has amlogic, -03 model has rk2926
<Astralix1>
I wa just kidding cause of the typo
<naobsd>
:)
<Astralix1>
i forgot the name of this chinese datasheet exchange site
<Astralix1>
something starting with s
cnxsoft has quit [Quit: cnxsoft]
<Astralix1>
I don't see even a reduced datasheet of the RK2926 device out there. As it has normal pins, it should be easy to contact or locate the UART, but if you don't know the pin number...

hello all
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
i search about for my MK808B, xorg.conf and wifi drivers, i have a geekbuying mk808B
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
now i use debian in this
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
but with ethernet adaptator and X is very bad
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
on debian 7
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
no find xorg.conf.....
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
on google....
<Astralix1>
808 (based on RK3066) is same video unit as 809 (based on RK3188) so you could check around for both chips and devices.
<Astralix1>
check if aloks picuntu works for you. But with WiFi there is some trouble with certain chipsets. No stable results for now. I guess I'll come back to wifi hacking next week.
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
ok wifi, i can have another dongle
<Astralix1>
You'll probably will find the results on omegamoons blog
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
for X ?
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
X is the best problem
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
now
<Astralix1>
X is video, and both chips have same VPU/GPU
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
what s the last kernel you use, i use 3.0.36 now
<Astralix1>
AFAIK the porting of MALI400 code is still ongoing
<Astralix1>
and yes, as our mainline kernel is still at the very beginning, everyone is still using 3.0.36
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
kali.org say it have a 3.0.8 kernel, is a good way ?
<Astralix1>
but the problem is that MALI code is half/half. You need to adapt an open source part of the driver to the kernel but then include closed source kernel modules on the target system (Android or any Linux)
<Astralix1>
Just try it. All the rockchip kernels are horror code, so try what ever brings you near your needs
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
ok rockchip is hard with linux ?
<Astralix1>
You know, there are about 300 rockchips programmers coding ugly style but only two people trying to sort the things up and bring them mainline in compliant way of code. And these two don't even have access to the full datasheets of all rockchips
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
versus allwinner ?
<Astralix1>
no, allwinner and rockchips is both ugly, the only one who is even more worse than both of them, is mediatek
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
ok thk
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
for you re answer
<Astralix1>
welcomed
<KamiKaze_Phoenix>
i return, grab info for have a good linux on my RK3066.... hard is the rock :D

hey cnxsoft
<cnxsoft>
hi
<Astralix1>
I just read some of your reports about rockchips getting mor open to open source
<Astralix1>
that was a joke, was it?
<Astralix1>
not your joke, but the interview guy from rockchip made the joke?
<cnxsoft>
Yes, there was video interview with charbax, and Rockchip VP said they were getting better...
<cnxsoft>
and the code was available.
<Astralix1>
yes... So that means that the code we have is really that what these guys produced...
<cnxsoft>
It could be.

someone should tell them to keep developing silicone but leva programming it to someone who knows how to
<cnxsoft>
On the other end, in private, it seems they admit they don't care about open source or Linux... I can't remember exactly. I think that's what hipboi was told when he talked with them
<Astralix1>
Not only he, I got the same answer
<Astralix1>
and some others I know too
<cnxsoft>
Well, you could always refer them to that video... The guy who made the claim is VP...
<Astralix1>
lol
<Astralix1>
you think that may work?
<Astralix1>
Do you have some technical information about the chips you do not post? Someone in here is searching for UART on 2926 chips. I search for the reduced datasheets as that one should have pinut
<cnxsoft>
:p. You can just tell your contact: "Look! Your boss said you have to open the code! Do it now!"
<Astralix1>
I try that right next week
<Astralix1>
very good idea
<cnxsoft>
No. I normally post all I know :)
<Astralix1>
ok, have to leave to get som food bought for the week. Cu later

hey. i see various mtk5931 sources around github, particularly without GPL headers (e.g. in the rk3188 repo). picuntu doesn't appear to support this chip, is it a licensing issue, are those drivers incomplete, or am i missing something? :)
