<mmind00> via: sound is in mainline as of 4.8-rc1, I think someone reported suspend being broken - nobody had time to investigate yet
<via> any reason to use your fork vs mainline anymore?
<ayaka> mmind00, do you talk about i2s in rk?
<mmind00> ayaka: more like sound on veyron chromebooks
<ayaka> mmind00, in my memory, there is some problem with DMA in i2s subsystem
<ayaka> I am adding support sound support for firefly reload
<mmind00> ayaka: I think that got addressed with a quirk
<mmind00> via: the only thing not in mainline is the mali stuff
<mmind00> via: everything else (especially the displayport driver) is in mainline now
<via> ok
<via> thanks

<ayaka> mmind00, I though the rk give a library for chrome book
<mmind00> ayaka: anyway I did have sound on my veyron chromebook ... you need the alsa ucm profile of course (available in the latest alsa release)
<mmind00> ayaka: what do you mean with library?
<ayaka> mmind00, I hear that the rk release library to do some quirk to fix DMA issue with i2s
<ayaka> mmind00, I am not go with pulseaudio yet, still debug the dts and alsa
<ayaka> I could create the sound card, but the output is a mess
<mmind00> ayaka: if you look at https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/log/drivers/dma/pl330.c you can see the quirk for the flushp issue and some burst fixes in february and march
<ayaka> mmind00, ok I see
<ayaka> mmind00, anyway I may start that issue in next weekend
<ayaka> if I could submit the fix for usb today
<mmind00> ayaka: veyron needs and ucm profile to make sound work: http://git.alsa-project.org/?p=alsa-lib.git;a=tree;f=src/conf/ucm/VEYRON-I2S not sure if your board needs one as well
<ayaka> mmind00, I should that is used for pulseaudio? not using alsa directly?
<mmind00> ayaka: don't know ... after mplayer played some audio file I was satisfied and didn't dig deeper
<ayaka> mmind00, which audio codec is used at veyron ?
<mmind00> ayaka: max98090 according to the dts in mainline :-)
<ayaka> mmind00, I still using the 4.7, I didn't notice the audio is added to 4.8
<mmind00> ayaka: hehe, yeah that is a common pattern ... i.e. maintainers always live 1 or two kernel versions ahead and I'm handling stuff for 4.9 currently :-)
<ayaka> well it didn't use simple-sound-card
<ayaka> mmind00, and thank you for you suggestion
