<rperier> hey, don't remember it was you sjg1_ or mmind00 you reported issues at 1Gbs for gmac_rockchip in uboot ? typically it is working perfectly here @10mbps and @100mbps but not @1Gbps
<rperier> ping is working but I get random data loses, I am wondering if it already worked \o/
<rperier> s/you reported/who reported/

<mmind00> rperier: I think that was me ... but haven't really followed up, after limiting my own board to just 100MBit
<rperier> mhhhhh, ok

<wens> possible delay tuning issues or pin drive strength too low?
<beeble> what board and which phy?
perr has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<mmind00> beeble: that was a rk3288-firefly ... I think meanwhile there were some patches posted that fixed some gmac issues there if I remember correctly ... and rperier also posted a fix some days ago
<mmind00> wens: not sure, but on the rk3288-firefly the kernel itself was working nicely with gbit ethernet, only the uboot portion was faulty, so likely more a driver issue I guess
<wens> mmind00: might be the glue layer?
<wens> on sunxi dwmac with U-boot works fine, unless the glue layer was incorrectly configured
<wens> I think one board needed a tx clk delay tweak
<wens> but most boards just need the appropriate mode (MII/RGMII) set in the glue layer, and for the pinconf
<wens> RGMII needs a stronger pin drive strength to retain the signal wave forms
<beeble> mmind00: in that case i don't have a lot of input other then standard phrases :)
<beeble> rx/tx delays seem to be the same in u-boot and kernel. so as long as there is no error in the shift operations that should be ok. and rperier send a fix for enabling it
BenG83 has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
<rperier> I sent a first patch for fixing issues @100mbs in uboot but not for 1gbs yet. I have checked rx/tx delays, clock sel, rgmii modes... everything seems to be ok
<rperier> the other bit fields and shifts seem to be good too
<beeble> hmm
wzyy2 has quit [Ping timeout: 255 seconds]
<beeble> rk3288.dts u-boot vs linux seems to have some differences in the rgmii pin definition
<beeble> ah sorry
<beeble> wrong file
<rperier> also an interesting thing is it is working @10mbs, it is working @100mbps
<rperier> but it is broken @1gbps
<rperier> which suggests a phy clock issue or something like this...
<rperier> but as I said, it seems to be good too :(
<beeble> as wens said, common issues in that case are rgmii delays and drive strengths
<rperier> yeah, I was reading what he said :)
<wens> RGMII @ gbps is 125 MHz DDR
