<Ke> if you would update Kevin coreboot to get spectre/meltdown updates, would you be too eager, if you did it now
<Ke> I see nothing trivial in the logs
<Ke> I think there is some runtime fw. there, if eg. virtualization is working
<Ke> which I believe does not work without runtime fw.

<maz_> Ke: for spectre v2 to be mitigated, you need to update ATF. no idea if google is going to provide an updated firmware. on an updated box, you'd see that SMCCC v1.1 is supported, and that's where the mitigation happens.
<Ke> oh coreboot uses ATF, didn't know that
<Ke> I think at least rockchip definitely has updated theirs

<micken> Plz help
<Ke> Plz ask
<micken> DOes HDMI-TX have any sort of power setting?
JohnDoe_71Rus has quit [Quit: KVIrc 4.9.3 Aria http://www.kvirc.net/]
<micken> I have been hunting this for a very long time now
<micken> I have clocked the VOP BIG
<micken> I have directed it to HDMI
<micken> I have confoigured HDMI_FC
<micken> and the PHY
<micken> I don't get sync
<micken> nothing
<micken> av path
<micken> So the question is , does the HDMI-TX have a forexample GPIO setting?
<micken> for power..
<micken> I know about the pmic
<micken> that is correct
<micken> at least for the PHY
<beeble> micken: which SoC?
<BenG83> what hardware are you talking about?
<micken> 3288
<micken> tinker board
<beeble> is VDD10_LCD and VCC18_LCD on with the correct voltages?
<micken> In The PMU?
<micken> or the PMIC
<micken> ah pmic
<beeble> they are on default off LDOs on the pmic
<beeble> pmic
<micken> uncertain
<BenG83> is there a full schematic for Tinkerboard?
<BenG83> I only found a one page thing with the connectors
<micken> I am poking pmic register 0x24
<beeble> assuming the thinkerboard follows the rockchip reference design
<beeble> micken: use a multimeter? :)
<micken> oh boy , it so tiny :)
<micken> my muultimeter whould just short everything :/
<micken> beeble: The question is , which settings are right?
<micken> beeble: is there docs for this?
<micken> I can see it in linux dts
<beeble> i don't own a tinker board so i can only guess
<beeble> if the dts defines it there is a high chance that it's correct
<micken> ofc
<micken> regulator-min-microvolt = <1800000>;
<beeble> and take a look at /sys/kernel/debug//regulator/
<micken> for bothe
<micken> both
<micken> damn ssh lag
<beeble> or wherever you have mounted your debugfs
<beeble> the hdmi phy on the rk3288 requires a 1.0 and 1.8 voltage
<micken> But ok... which pmic (assuing pmic) register is this in?
<beeble> and that one is missing the cpu part with the hdmi phy
<micken> ofc :)
<beeble> so i could only guess and assume that the rails on the pmic have the correct labels
<beeble> you could match them with your settings
<micken> Thanks
<micken> Both are correctly set
<micken> And the PHY reacts , gives me HPD rxsense and it locks after config
<micken> Reading the docs Ihave it sounds like I should have sync just by configurig hdmi
<micken> it doesn't tell anything about clocks
vagrantc has joined #linux-rockchip
<micken> It doesn't tell me if the vop needs to be running a display , before I get sync on the monitor
<micken> I have set up a basic framebuffer
<micken> but right now I would like to se fixed output from the framecomposer
<beeble> do you get an edid? there should be something in the sysfs to verify that
<micken> Oh this isn't linux :)
<micken> It is www.riscosopen.org
<beeble> ah i see, i should remember nicks better if i see them :)
<micken> np
<micken> I hope :)
<micken> I have beeen working on tihs on and off for abouta year now
<micken> mostly off
<micken> I have EHCI coming up
<micken> (apart from a problem in the kernel that needs sorting first)
<beeble> you know that u-boot has hdmi support for the rk3288? that driver is a lot simpler and could guide you
<micken> I know
<beeble> ok
<micken> I have beeen following it
<micken> and coreboot
<micken> coreboot is the most clearly written one
<micken> But they don't differ much
<micken> I was worried about my clock settings , so I borrowed that code from coreboot as a test ( can't really use GPL code)
<micken> But it didn't help
<beeble> i can't tell you about any pitfalls with the rk3288. but the driver for the rk3399 was quite straight forward and you can see the result in the u-boot tree
<micken> I am using the guide from http://www.t-firefly.com/download/Firefly-RK3399/docs/TRM/Rockchip%20RK3399TRM%20V1.3%20Part2.pdf on how to get up the basics , they share HDMI controller
<beeble> so thats probably the best i could offer for the moment
<micken> OK
<micken> Thanks
<micken> I have been looking on linux commits and it seems like there where very little difference when starting off from the i.MX6 drivers
<micken> beeble: but from you experience, when do you think the monitor will sync?
<micken> I have fc_dbgforce turned on
