hanetzer: tested your u-boot patches for c201... and i've confirmed for a second time that when coreboot/libreboot initializes the LCD, install u-boot, reboot (without powering off) ... the LCD works from u-boot. every time.

so coreboot must be initializing the display in some way that is reset on poweroff

vagrantc: yeah. have you tried a few full power cycles, see if it does init at some point?

finally also wrote somewhere u-boot picks up by default so that i don't have to manually blind-type a bunch of u-boot commands to get it to boot

serial console is very helpful

on the plus side, booting from u-boot the eMMC seems to be reliable ... whereas with libreboot i rarely got a successful boot

normally i refuse to even try bootloader/firmware stuff without serial console... just too hard.

given the evidence i have so far, i seriously wonder what chain-loading u-boot from coreboot would be like.

ah, i see a lot of comments on the patch series ... maybe it's not the right device-tree after all?

it isish. however, you should grab the kernel devicetree, and add the dmc or whatever node from the ml

i also patched in a usb ethernet adapter on my build, but it never seems to try to use it

i think it's not enabled by default as it could actually damage devices plugged into the usb ports

so you'd still need some way to selectively enable it

i'm fairly sure you can partition from within u-boot

I mean the equivalent of mkfs.ext4 and such

just make the whole filesystem on another machine and dump it into the partition ... keep it just big enough to hold all the bits you want in it
