<hanetzer> sphalerite: can you get me a filesize of the /dev/mmcblk*boot[01] 'partitions' on your device, btw?
<sphalerite> hanetzer: each 4M
<hanetzer> sphalerite: gotcha. What I ended up doing for lack of 'nvram' in the sense of powerpc machines is cook some code to store the petitboot vars on a u-boot env and stuck it on those files
<hanetzer> redundant env on both of them
<sphalerite> ah, sounds good
<sphalerite> Are they used in stock chromeos at all?
<hanetzer> not that I'm aware of. they were blank when I looked at them for the first time

<hanetzer> considering buying a pinebook pro. wish they came with more ram tho
<EmilKarlson> you know that is rk3399 limitation
<EmilKarlson> at least they come with m.2 option
<EmilKarlson> to keeps up with their normal cadence, I would expect rockchip to publish a new soc moderately soon
<EmilKarlson> then will take some years to trickle into products and get support
<hanetzer> I think it can be more than 4gb... recall reading about it on the u-boot ml
<phh> EmilKarlson: well they announced rk3588
<EmilKarlson> very formidable, will they sell it unlocked like the rk3399?
<phh> uh, could you be more specific?
<phh> unlocked as in no secure-boot?
<phh> I doubt they'll deviate from their current model: it's supported, but disabled by default, the OEM does what they want with it
<EmilKarlson> I would suppose so as well
<EmilKarlson> anyway, that's in the future apparently
