<wens> wonder what changed

<mraynal> mmind00: hello! what's your final point on the MAINTAINERS update? I didn't get your PMIC remark
<mraynal> (also, what about the caches patch?)

<mmind00> mraynal: pmic should just be a separate entry in MAINTAINERS ... so there is the one for arch/* stuff and there should be a separate one for the rk8* ICs (similarly how there is a separate entry for rockchip-drm)
<mmind00> mraynal: cache-patch is still on my list :-)
<mraynal> oh ok I just realized that rk8 ICs all referrend to PMIC stuff
<mraynal> referred*

<mraynal> for the caches, no hurry, I saw you were very reactive on the other topics, that's why I asked, but 0 pressure on this
<mmind00> mraynal: it always depends if I need to read up on things :-D ... aka that is the first patch doing this deep type of cache definition, so I still need to read docs on what this actually does ;-)
<mraynal> mmind00: sure! it was the first time to me too digging into the caches description. I had a hard time finding information so whenever you want to review it, please feel free to open the discussion if I can be of any help to speed up your understanding

<mmind00> mraynal: actually, if you could point me to where these cache properties are actually documented? Because grepping through Documentation/devicetree only brings up some riscv-example for i-cache-size for example
* mmind00 suspects to be just blind though

<PhoenixMage> How would enable u-boot to be able to display over HDMI and take input from a usb kb?
<mraynal> mmind00: Documentation/devicetree/booting-without-of.txt is a good place to start
<mraynal> but I didn't find a real official "caches.yaml"

<mraynal> I am not sure it is actually useful but at least it displays prper information in sysfs and avoids warnings in the dmesg (drivers/base/cacheinfo.c)

<ElBarto> Hello
<ElBarto> anyone familiar with dwmmc on rockchip and card detection ?
<ElBarto> I'm trying to find the reason for something that is driving me crazy for the past few days
<ElBarto> it seems that some boards are using the internal cdetect mechanisms, and other are using a cd-gpios
<ElBarto> and apparently switching from one to the other causes problems like explained in commit 10f595eedc22 in mainline
<ElBarto> does someone knows the magic for making sure that either one of the method can be used reliably ?

<robmur01_> ElBarto: the difference is that the GPIO is in an always-on power domain, whereas the dedicated CD function still depends on the SDMMC0 I/O supply
<robmur01_> thus if the VCCIO_SD regulator gets turned off when not needed (because there's no card), the dedicated CD pin loses its pullup and floats
<robmur01_> I guess the "magic" is really to not follow the reference design exactly, and instead pull up CD externally
