<dhivael> there seem to be very weird video glitches when using kexec to load kernels. the first kernel after cold boot works fine, the one booted by kexec has *very* glitchy graphics (black lines inserted into display output). disabling video drivers in the kernel that runs kexec doesn't fix that

<dhivael> booting with uboot doesn't do that, of course
<dhivael> anyone an idea what that could be/how to fix it?

<vicencb> I also had this issue, but for unknown reason, its fixed. It does not happen currently in my configuration.

<vicencb> as of now, the first kernel before kexec has not been changed in a while. That same kernel showed the issue before and not now.
<vicencb> So, the change must lie in the kernel after kexec, which is regularly updated

<vicencb> now i've got linux 5.4.6 as boot loader and 5.5.5 and kexec'd kernel

<anarsoul> likely something's missing in the driver
<vicencb> the only thing i see is an error message in Xorg when setting the QHD resolution:
