<yann> rtp: btw even with uboot 2020.07 disabling vopl results in a working system (although the problem is much worse when enabled)

<yann> rtp, robmur01: note the libreELEC patches include (labelled as hack) the disabling of vopl for hdmi for 3399 and 3288 (removing vopl_out_hdmi and hdmi_in_vopl nodes)
<yann> that may be enough to prevent the issue I'm seeing
<robmur01> eh, I could continue to guess wildly, but I'm not convinced it's productive ;) All I do know for sure is that I don't have a 4K monitor or eDP panel to play with, and vopl driving 1080p HDMI with vopb idle has never shown any issues on my board
<yann> but then, is there any reason to use vopl on HDMI if you have a single output ? power usage ?
<rtp> yann: no idea. for my case, I'm only using the dts found in uboot/linux. Nevertheless, I dont see any reason for it to not work. it's a bug which has to be fixed imho
<yann> sure
<yann> and it even looks like the armbian guys did fix it, although how they did it still evades my understanding

<rtp> are they using mainline atf too ?

<yann> yes, v2.2 with few patches
<yann> oh, a "switch-power-domains-on-before-reset.patch"
<yann> that is the one pointed to by robmur01, which is included in 2.3 already

<hanetzer> so, what's the news on hot new rockchip SoCs?
<hanetzer> I wonder if there are any pi zero like boards for rockchip stuffs.
<robmur01> well, RK3566/8 are supposedly on a low-power 22nm process, so hopefully they should run fairly cool :P
<robmur01> not quite Pi Zero territory but there are some teeny tiny RK3308 boards like Rock Pi S

<hanetzer> I've a stupid/genius idea of building a keyboard with one inside you can use as a 'normal pc' when hooked up to a monitor and be used as a 'normal keyboard' when hooked up to the full pc
