ssvb: my use case is that i have an a13 tablet in need of rescueing
<libv>
there might still be a script.bin on its nand, but i do not know this until i can get anything going on it
<ssvb>
libv: I see

ssvb your gradient script runs good
<libv>
the uart1 does not seem to be wired up at all, but attaching wires to tqfp is quite the hassle
<ssvb>
libv: a13 tablet needs an updated version of the unified image, which supports getting console over usb
<ssvb>
maybe I will push it out in a few days

at least this was working fine on the forfun a13 tablet two months ago
<libv>
cool

should be making pictures before continuing with this though

still there is a problem with uart serial (in the case if it clashes with mmc), we probably want to be able to disable uart in u-boot altogether

Hey yall, I have a issue... Mali 400 with fbturbo and I am working on raspian on a banana pi. I am using the RCA out to my 7 inch monitor and I have some over-scaling issues and a locked resolution. Not much online, and setting uEnv parameters is not changing anything. Nor is script.bin (so far). Tricks yall have found to force a decent resolution?
<libv>
antisaint: which kernel?
<antisaint>
:D How to know?
<libv>
you do not know which kernel you are using?

<antisaint>
Linux black-rasp 3.4.103 #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Dec 18 13:07:12 CST 2014 armv7l GNU/Linux
<libv>
uEnv is definitely barking up the wrong tree
<libv>
script.txt is where it is at
<antisaint>
O
<libv>
err, .bin
<libv>
are you sure that other changes to script.bin are taking effect?
<libv>
paste the relevant portions of your .fex file into like pastebin.
<antisaint>
[disp_init] 4/11
<libv>
also, mali-400 has absolutely nothing to do with display stuff.
<antisaint>
w/e you want to know?
<antisaint>
:(

heh
<libv>
fixed resolutions only.
<libv>
you have to wait until $biggest_asshole_in_the_world finishes a proper display driver.
<plaes>
I actually don't what resolution you needed
<plaes>
libv: have you seen leviatanch's drm work?
<linkmauve1>
Speaking about a display driver, I told you a few weeks ago I found a company ready to hire me to work on that for mainline in the scope of my masters thesis, but they have money issues so it probably won’t happen, sorry.

<libv>
the initial work yes, which was not even working boilerplate
<antisaint>
I am looking to get the native for my monitor, its 800/600 or 1024/768. Id prefer the latter
<libv>
s/working/loadable/
<antisaint>
I am thinking of rewiring some flex cables to get another display up on it... Please :)
<plaes>
I haven't used RCA output, so I don't know
<antisaint>
Finiky it seems
<antisaint>
Has to be set after install and wont get proper rez :/
<antisaint>
Any official BananaPi room?
<plaes>
cant you try official fex from sunxi-boards?
<plaes>
your fex and "official" fex has screen0/screen1 swapped
<antisaint>
the 2/11 3/4 values?
<plaes>
and some other things too
<antisaint>
Personally changed
<plaes>
like framebuffer numbers
<antisaint>
3 has been suggested to be used for 3d accel
<antisaint>
2/11 is the best i have tried (them all)
<antisaint>
and with the reverse 3/4 2/11 it wont boot up to Composite
<antisaint>
Stuck in 720x576-52 NOOOOO!!!! Help Guys... I made my way to the interwebs of freenode for your assistance!

* TheSeven
hasn't watched this for ages, but seen some rumors that there's progress...
<TheSeven>
do we have mtd-based NAND support that can compete with allwinner's FTL stability/speed wise?
<jackdaniel>
TheSeven: nand works decently in kernel afaik, but didn't test it against original
<TheSeven>
well allwinner's FTL crap is utterly unstable, so I'm just wondering if MTD is past that already ;)
<TheSeven>
the wiki suggests that while there's some support in mainline 3.19, it isn't usable for MLC yet (which most of the boards would have)
<SQUelcher>
I'm using a custom kernel on my Banana Pi, with a decent display resolution but without any acceleration :P
<TheSeven>
so is there some other kernel which can properly handle MLC already?
<mripard>
no
<TheSeven>
is that around the corner or not going to happen anytime soon?
<TheSeven>
blocked on reverse engineering, required upstream changes or lack of time?
<mripard>
depending on what you call properly, it's not going to happen anytime soon
<antisaint>
SQUelcher: res and piped thru what? HDMI?
<mripard>
because it requires changes at the MTD, UBI and FS level.
<SQUelcher>
antisaint: 1920x1080 on hdmi, yes
<TheSeven>
so what would happen if I used the current code on MLC flash? corruption problems because of improper randomization etc.?
<mripard>
not just randomization, but yeah, data corruptions

mripard: I just git pulled from your github accounts kernel tree, checkouted branch "linux-sunxi" and compiled a kernel with the a31 defconfig, but the kernel boot stops at line "hub: 4 ports detected"
<topi`_>
a few lines before it said "VFS: mounted root (ext4 filesystem)" so I guess it's not about detecting the MMC and getting a root fs
<topi`_>
I meant the sunxi_defconfig, not a31 defconfig
<topi`_>
wow, it's not completely dead. Now I got a line on the serial port:
<topi`_>
[ 254.980070] random: nonblocking pool is initialized
<topi`_>
I just wonder where is my serial getty.. has the name of the seiral port been changed?
