lvrp16: H5, mali: Now, you can only use a resolution like 800x600. At 800x600, it operates properly; without any issue. The maximum buffer size seems to be 1024x512. If you try something bigger, it will fail.
<noblock>
lvrp16: maybe a cache coherence issue, or something else.

montjoie, no performance difference between ecb and XTS? Great!

@megi, thanks on the liliputing info, my takes the indicates measurement is PinePhone dev board itself, not the actual PinePhone size.

The A64 will be solder on board on the PinePhone, we use SOPine in dev board to ease for layout and also able to test out new SoC when arise.

Thanks on Sunxi A64 mainline effort to make this happens.

@megi, thanks :-)

Thanks to Sunxi as community :-)

lvrp16: They may have inverted some address line beyond 2MB too. More testing is welcome. Lima is helpful for this purpose too.
<lvrp16>
noblock: you suspect hardware implementation difference?
<lvrp16>
or bug?
<noblock>
Indeed; I have a S905W board that works flawlessly. We must have a trick somewhere on the H5 implementation.
<noblock>
Android is working. But I suspect we don't have the software changes on the legacy kernel.
<lvrp16>
i hope it is fixable in the kernel driver and i don't have to get new blobs

If we have just some bits to swap on the address; This is fixable at the kernel level.

But testing is not easy.

I tried many things, like different kernel driver configurations and even checked what BSP mali kernel driver did.

but it was nothing special, really

so I suspect the issue lies somewhere else.

<jernej>
so it might be DRAM driver?
<jernej>
it would be interesting to boot with BSP DRAM driver just for test
<noblock>
I don't think it is related to the DRAM itself.
<noblock>
When using lima, it is impossible to get a proper image at 1080p; Only 800x600 is fine. The issue seems more exacerbate

android driver might contain some workarounds
<noblock>
We can use the r5p0 fb userspace (aarch64), or the gbm one; But both are OK only at 800x600.
<noblock>
I suspect some kind of bus wrapping (2MB), but more tests are required.

ask allwinner?

(or check android sources)

Is this possible to recompile all the H5 sources? My last attempt failed.
