I'm brainstorming using nanoc as a static image gallery generator; not sure if its the best fit for that (would love to hear opinions on that); one thing I'd like is to get EXIF data out of images for descriptions, titles, etc
<jvdz>
Is such a thing possible?
<musicmatze>
You could search for gems for the exif data thing...
<musicmatze>
then you could do it easily, I think.
<darix>
jvdz: i started something like that
<darix>
but atm it recompiles the thumbnails too often
<darix>
jvdz: mini_exiftol works nicely for the image info stuff.

darix: Thanks, I'll look into it; would that be accessible to nanoc as a variable?
<darix>
jvdz: what i did
<darix>
i defined a nanoc sub command that extracted the infos and wrote them to <filename without extensions>.yaml
<darix>
then you have it as meta data in your nanoc::item
<jvdz>
darix: Nice, I suppose that's not too bad. In my Perfect World vision, filesystem MDT would be as accessable as other MDT like filename, path, mtime, and so on :)
<jvdz>
jvdz: But then again, in that perfect world, filesystems have evolved to have higher level abstract functionality, like virtual directories which are search queries, and that kind of stuff

darix: So in your setup, did you define several thumbnail tempaltes (e.g. icon, medium, so on), and then process the images using those?
<jvdz>
darix: Which tool did you use for that image processing (I'm not very familiar with ruby & the image processing ecosystem)
<darix>
shell out to graphicsmagick/imagemagick
<darix>
ok time to head out
<darix>
later
<jvdz>
thanks, take care

Anyone know why I would suddenly start getting this error?
<kaustuv>
For the log, apparently this is because a require 'erubis' was missing from lib/nanoc/filters/erubis.rb. Adding this makes the error go away.
