<jkepler>
(1.) Current donations toward the project are simply donations, not pre-orders, correct (They count as rebates on completed Neo900s or kits, assuming the project succeeds)?
<jkepler>
I'm quite interested in the Neo900 project. Following up on my last two questions, I've got three unanswered questions:
<jkepler>
(3.) Can you receive donations via bitcoin, and if so, can its future value when Neo900s are available be applied as the rebate?
<jkepler>
(2.) Do donations given today also receive the 2% monthly interest until Neo900s are available for purchase?
<jkepler>
Probably can't apply bitcoin's future value to the rebate, as it would hamper the project's ability to use the bitcoin funds when needed to cover costs.)
<sn0wmonster>
Joerg-Neo900 will have to answer the donation questions
<sn0wmonster>
as for the way to handle bitcoin pre-orders, it would likely be done by an intermediary that cashes out at spot-price on an exchange automatically so that the project receives EUR instead of BTC
<sn0wmonster>
that's how most shops do it

<jkepler>
thanks. I was thinking about how the USD component costs have driven up the overall EUR cost estimate, and wondering if bitcoin could somehow compensate. Probably not. I'll wait to hear from Joerg-Neo900 re donations.

<Joerg-Neo900>
jkepler: (1.) they are regular preorders, though with unknown delivery date and final price
<Joerg-Neo900>
so which way you look at it, both descriptions basically mean the same
<Joerg-Neo900>
(2.) no, the interest was for early supporters only
<Joerg-Neo900>
(3.) alas we have no bitcion processor. So any bitcoin transactions need to get done via a human proxy
<Joerg-Neo900>
the value gets converted the very moment of payment. we can't take the risk of speculating on bitcoin future values
<Joerg-Neo900>
your down payment is needed for R&D and sourcing of components, so we couldn't keep the bitcoins anyway, even if we would want to speculate with them
<Joerg-Neo900>
yes, exactly what you said in your remark to /3.)
<Joerg-Neo900>
simply put: all down payments are accepted in EUR only, any other currency gets converted to EUR the moment the user does the payment
<Joerg-Neo900>
now let me announce something:
<Joerg-Neo900>
I welcome metacollin to Neo900 core team. He's taking responsibility of layout and protoype production domain
