I finally come to the conclusion that it's totally pointless to try and develop and produce and sell hardware without a solid funding upfront
<norly>
:(
<DocScrutinizer05>
UMPH WHAT? >>The Cosmo is based on the powerful Mediatek P70 8-core processor plus separate GPU and AI processors.<<
<norly>
they process your AI. it's like a food processor, but for AI
<DocScrutinizer05>
can do this since >>This campaign has built only a working demo of their product, not the final product. Earlier this year, we successfully delivered our Gemini PDA product to more than 7000 Indiegogo backers<<
<norly>
i'd like to know what they really are though
<DocScrutinizer05>
where to find out *when* a campaign got started on indiegogo?
<DocScrutinizer05>
maybe >>posted by Planet Computers Nov 5, 2018 • 7:09PM "Cosmo reaches Indiegogo funding goal in 4 hours!"<< ?

(LTE) aaah yep >>The LTE final band list is not finalised and we will publish as soon as we have it. <<

<dos1>
that Mediatek processor has LTE integrated AFAIK
<Joerg-Neo900>
sure
<Joerg-Neo900>
hard to find a SoC without, nowadays
<dos1>
business idea: take SoCs and sell them as standalone LTE modules :v
* dos1
starts to wonder if this joke isn't actually a sensible thing
<norly>
dos1: we kinda joked about that a few days ago already... i think joerg suggested running such a SoC not only as a baseband, but as a full android phone inside a mobile computer
<DocScrutinizer51>
witd display in a VNC window
<norly>
though
<norly>
we should probably have a SoC as baseband, then a SoC for android, then another SoC for the linux computer
<norly>
so we're already at 3 SoCs
<DocScrutinizer51>
wouldn't spend a soc for android

fold-able displays - my dream comes true @ MWC
<hallyn>
yeah those look nice
<hallyn>
but where does my physical kbd go
<hallyn>
on the back, as a two-handed backside kbd?
<hallyn>
like the old twiddler?
<Joerg-Neo900>
that's an orthogonal problem that actually doesn't change much from former/recent formfactor designs to future folded display
<Joerg-Neo900>
right?
<Joerg-Neo900>
I'm still deeply in love with properly integrated detachable slider kbd

<hallyn>
would be tough to properly weight a 6" square (is that about what it is?) foldable device with detached slider kbd, i would think. but then, no way would ppl be willing to learn how to use a backside kbd,
<hallyn>
i suppose it could detach when folded, and when unfolded you resign yourself to a bt kbd

fails to see the use/benefit of folding displays

easy to carry in pocket, yet useful display? phone display sizes are silly
xmn has joined #neo900
<sicelo>
oh well - i don't know much about hardware, but imo, anything that folds has inherent disadvantage of limited life. i guess i'm more inclined to trust a mechanical hinge instead of folding the screen itself
<Joerg-Neo900>
hallyn: the "detachable" is meant for semi-persistent device configuration. For use slide out
<Joerg-Neo900>
about mass balancing (without considering the yet new folded-display) I thought to detach the battery+camera layer from the sandwich, attach the slider-kbd (slide mech on upside of kbd) and re-attach the bat+cam layer to bottom of kbd
<Joerg-Neo900>
for camera it might even have a 15mm wide "bar" that isn't "split" into layers and doesn't slide out with kbd or detach with battery layer
