Know nothing about ocaml, it's being pushed on me by LiquidSoap, who claim it's easy, but so far it's been a total disaster for me, coming up with weird and wonderful errors that mean nothing to anyone but advanced users.

that literally means nothing to me. How can a package manager be so complicated, and fail at the first hurdle so badly. This is a clean install of Debian (it failed the same way on my old install of debian)
