<froyo> i think you may appreciate the significance
<vsiles>
@froyo: it indexes what's know to merlin, so local code + libs you're using, but not "all of your opam repo"
<d_bot>
<Drup> odig already does "a whole switch", which is exactly the same as the new thingy.
<vsiles>
dunno odig, will read about that. MerlinSearch was always enough for me

<Drup> vsiles: odig is for documentation, nothing to do with type search

oups
<vsiles>
ok ;)
<d_bot>
<froyo> I should be more clear, by "the entirety of opam repo" I meant opam.ocaml.org, the repo, not my local switch, the target.
<d_bot>
<froyo> the publicly available hoogle.hackage.org indexes the entirety of stackage
<d_bot>
<froyo> in a similar fashion
<d_bot>
<froyo> oops its hoogle.haskell.org hah
<d_bot>
<Drup> digodoc doesn't index "the whole opam", from first glance, it works exactly like odig
<d_bot>
<froyo> yes, the analogy drawn here is of a publicly available instance that indexes everything
<d_bot>
<froyo> notwithstanding hoogle having the ability to index the whole thing locally by downloading an index
<d_bot>
<octachron> The point is that it only indexes a coinstallable subset of the repository.

<craigfe> (and in particular that means you're getting at most a single version of each package, and likely an older version due to stragglers)

for those interested in cryptography and OCaml, I wrote a small blog post about my recent releases (tls / x509 / mirage-crypto-ec) -- mainly featuring elliptic curves -- https://hannes.robur.coop/Posts/EC (happy to get feedback, chat with me ;)

<matthieud> Hi all, FYI I had a problem with ocaml-lsp and merlin where every module was unknown. It was due to some old ".merlin" files in the project tree which were messing up with merlin. 🙂
<steenuil>
ah yeah, I also had that issue a few days ago
