I noticed that the panfrost ci jobs are triggered by the "arm_build" container instead of the "arm_test-base" one, is this intentional?

karolherbst: arm_test images are for running the tests within docker
<
tomeu>
panfrost devices are in lava, and use instead a ramdisk as their rootfs

* chrisf
scratching head over why this board insists on loading softpipe instead of panfrost
<
HdkR>
Which one is this? :)
<
chrisf>
this is the odroid-go-advance
<
HdkR>
Did you add the GPU to the allow list in pan_Screen.c?
<
HdkR>
pan_screen.c even
<
HdkR>
Oh, it's in there already, just need to set the environment variable :D
<
HdkR>
PAN_MESA_DEBUG=bifrost ./glue?
<
HdkR>
If you got it working, please provide a guide so I can also boot my GoA with Panfrost :)
<
chrisf>
HdkR: working on a guide.
<
HdkR>
Got some...stuff I want to test on it
<
chrisf>
ok, that's at least succeeding at creating a gbm-backed EGLSurface
<
chrisf>
unrelated: gee, it'd be nice if nvidia's blob was more reliable, on the workstation driving all this
<
chrisf>
losing its mind and drowning the machine in interrupts every so often isnt fun
<
HdkR>
Nvidia hardware gets shoved in to a VM here :P
<
Lyude>
chrisf: let me know if you want someone to make nouveau work for you :P)
<
chrisf>
Lyude: im pretty sure you're missing some stuff for turing ;)
<
Lyude>
chrisf: such as?
<
Lyude>
(also, feel free to move to #nouveau if you want :p)
<
chrisf>
Lyude: reclocking?
<
Lyude>
chrisf: ah. yes. that one.
<
chrisf>
Lyude: vulkan? ;)
<
Lyude>
chrisf: that one is actually being worked on i'm pretty sure
<
Lyude>
there's still a bunch of stuff skeggsb is working on adding into the kernel that we'll need for it
<
Lyude>
reclocking is up to whenever nvidia decides they'd like to play nice :P
<
chrisf>
\o/ successfully rendering with this pile of glue
<
HdkR>
Lyude: Don't get someone's hopes up by saying that Nvidia has a chance of playing nice :P
<
chrisf>
im fairly sure i didnt actually need to write the glue between the gpu and display by hand, but now i understand the drm api better
<
Lyude>
chrisf: what are you planning on working on by the way?
<
chrisf>
Lyude: eventually, giving you a vulkan driver for bifrost
<
chrisf>
short term, targets of opportunity
<
chrisf>
seems there's no shortage of gaps :)
<
Lyude>
chrisf: hope I can start helping by the time you get started! :)

HdkR: still need to reintegrate the wifi driver with this kernel and then i think i'll have steps that work properly with this board
<
chrisf>
(it definitely
*works* currently, but id rather not leave the wifi busted)
<
HdkR>
Did the GoA Black include wifi or something?
<
chrisf>
there's an esp8089 hanging off the sdio
<
HdkR>
I don't have the ones with wifi on it
<
HdkR>
Easier to just have ethernet hanging off of it :P
<
chrisf>
one other thing i noted-- when moving to the new kernel, the framebuffer rotation stopped working. not sure why yet
