So, I decided to use this chat in the future only for to-the-point technical discussions and not for philosophical purposes. about protecting: I think a legal protection will in most cases suffice (except in games, where Nistur is our expert).

interpreted languages are much harder to obfuscate well without restricting their power too strongly. I guess the strategy is too use the higher flexibility of picolisp to implement and innovate faster than the (not pil-using) competition, and beat them on development speed and quality of service

In case of picolisp I would say much of the very picolisp-specific concepts and structures would be very hard to emulate in other languages. so that is a barrier.

also some business fields have already moved to FOSS, e.g. a new database product has largely no chance without being FOSS, as businesses want to trust that such fundamental parts of their infrastructure remain available and maintainable even when the original company would fail
