cfbolz changed the topic of #pypy to: PyPy, the flexible snake (IRC logs: https://quodlibet.duckdns.org/irc/pypy/latest.log.html#irc-end ) | use cffi for calling C | if a pep adds a mere 25-30 [C-API] functions or so, it's a drop in the ocean (cough) - Armin

<arigo> mattip: done fixing tests, as far as I can tell
<arigo> there are 3 remaining tests that showed up just now but I can only think the tests are not reliable
<arigo> test_unmap_range for example is failing once every few runs, even before my merge of branch/wb_before_move
<mattip> thanks
<mattip> these changes make the jitted code also use the new algorithm, right?
<arigo> yes

<YannickJadoul> mattip: The latest nightly builds fixed our cibuildwheel builds! :-)
<YannickJadoul> Just curious: is there currently any plan for a new release that includes these fixes?
<mattip> sure, why not. Which problems did it fix?
<mattip> YannickJadoul: do you know of a popular package that utilizes python3.7 features and has a test suite?
<mattip> maybe we could test the 3.7 to see if it is worthy of an alpha release
<YannickJadoul> The issue with the macOS packaging makes it not work on AppVeyor's
<YannickJadoul> Not sure how many users are using AppVeyor's macOS (apparently not too many; I haven't seen any complaints), so it's not really urgent
<YannickJadoul> But: https://github.com/joerick/cibuildwheel/pull/371, those recent commits of the last past weeks fixed it now on all our CI services :)

<YannickJadoul> On Python 3.7: do you want C extension projects, or pure Python that doesn't support 3.6?
<mattip> dunno, what is new or fixed in CPython 3.7 that we might have missed? We know ssl and re changed, typing changed, what else?
<YannickJadoul> Yeah, don't have a good view on that either
<YannickJadoul> But I think most things I know about still support 3.6 :-/
<YannickJadoul> An obvious feature to search for usage for would be dataclasses, but that's pure Python, I think. So even if it's used in a project, it might not be a good test
