<wolfspraul>
he wisely left quick before we could remind him to not spam the channel :-)
<wolfspraul>
on the other hand if he is so desperate that he needs to spam the ca. 45 people in a copyleft hw project, then maybe we should be generous.
<wpwrak>
wolfspraul: (web pages) yes
<wolfspraul>
right now you check them out and then manually copy to downloads?
<wpwrak>
yup. or, rather, copy them and check them in :)
<wolfspraul>
don't understand. you commit to projects?
<wolfspraul>
but then copy to downloads because projects doesn't provide the right view?
<wpwrak>
yup
<wpwrak>
so i use projects for revision control and downloads for people to view things
<wolfspraul>
ok got it
<xiangfu>
there is some update in projects.qi-hardware.com
<wpwrak>
indefero seems to be a bit more like inferno this time ..
<wolfspraul>
just wait
<wolfspraul>
I will downgrade
<wolfspraul>
Indefero looks a little dead-end too
<wpwrak>
in what sense ?
<wolfspraul>
soooo
<wolfspraul>
pretty drastic downgrade
<wolfspraul>
xiangfu: let's see what works now...
<wolfspraul>
the problems with qi-kernel are gone already :-)
<roh>
you can roll back the db? or was there no change?
<wolfspraul>
:-)
<wolfspraul>
I said drastic
<wolfspraul>
I didn't even bother to try whether the older Indefero could work with the db changes the newer version did (there were a few when running the upgrade script)
<xiangfu>
wolfspraul, will do that after lunch.
<wolfspraul>
roh: so I just restored the database I dumped before the upgrade
<wolfspraul>
together with the old installation dirs
<wolfspraul>
meaning that database changes since yesterday are lost (like new accout creations or such, I cannot imagine much)
<wolfspraul>
plus uploaded files or attachments or issues
<wolfspraul>
but all just since yesterday, I doubt there is anything
<wolfspraul>
a first check in the browser seems to suggest it's back to working :-)
<wolfspraul>
wpwrak: with indefero, it seems mostly a 1-person thing. he first built his own framework (pluf) for 2-3 years
<wolfspraul>
then indefero on top, which this hosting company ceondo.com is using commercially
<wolfspraul>
now... github and others are controlling this market
<wolfspraul>
not many updates to indefero at all in 2011
<wolfspraul>
Jon reminded me of the importance of an issue tracker
<wolfspraul>
but the one in Indefero is not used much, and the most successful one seems to be RT
<wolfspraul>
including command line tools, how about that :-)
<wolfspraul>
so maybe over time we just get rid of Indefero. we can organize write access to repositories with a few simple scripts
<wolfspraul>
issue tracker becomes RT
<wolfspraul>
and the web interface to repositories should be such that you don't need to checkout repositories for web publishing
<wolfspraul>
we solve a bunch of problems and remove a 1-person software on an unstable foundation
<wpwrak>
then the final step would be to also connect the wiki to git, and the world would be perfect :)
<xiangfu>
wolfspraul, works fine. 'git push' without any problem.
<wolfspraul>
there you go
<wolfspraul>
downgrade to upgrade
<wolfspraul>
xiangfu: very nice release email you wrote!

mhm >>*** Taking Pre-Orders for the second Batch of Dingoo-Tech A380 slated for release the June 25th, 2011. As per usual once I get them they will ship immediately to you**** << Wonder if I should ban this dingoo guy
<wolfspraul>
that wasn't on this channel, was it?
<wolfspraul>
you can easily ban him :-)
<DocScrutinizer>
it was
<wolfspraul>
strange, not in the logs
<DocScrutinizer>
[2011-08-29 06:42:15] <DingooDigitalUSA>Â Â get news out carrying JXD products now @ www.dingoo-digital-usa.com
<DocScrutinizer>
[2011-08-29 06:45:02] <wolfspraul> he wisely left quick before we could remind him to not spam the channel :-)
<wolfspraul>
yes but not the 'second batch of dontoo-tech a380' thing
<DocScrutinizer>
that's from the linked site
<wolfspraul>
anyway it's crap and won't improve :-) I typically have to deal with "can you source 3 ddr3 sdram cheapo for me in china?" requests from him
<DocScrutinizer>
mhm
<wolfspraul>
"yes, China is waiting for people like you, who want to source '3 cheap ddr sdram'". "rolling out the red carpet, one sec..." :-)
<DocScrutinizer>
I suggest teaching qi-bot to issue a /mode #qi-hardware -q <user> ~3 minutes after joining the channel
<DocScrutinizer>
so we could get a /mode #channel +q $~a ; to quiet all non-registered users for the first nn seconds after joining
<DocScrutinizer>
freenode itself employs a similar scheme - though based around voicing users - on #defocus
<DocScrutinizer>
for now...:
<wolfspraul>
:-)
<wolfspraul>
some policies, good
<DocScrutinizer>
if anybody else is by sad fate using real name sales, please /query docscrutinizer (or any other of the chanops listed in /msg chanserv access #qi-hardware list )
<DocScrutinizer>
wow, I guess this is the only irc channel founded by a bot :-D
<kyak>
updates his "production" Ben to 2011-08-27 image and the "development" Ben is already asking for kernel 3.1 :)
<kristianpaul>
hum, usbboot should not overwrite logs..
<kristianpaul>
i bricked my nanonote when trying to upgrade and now i dont get why..
<kristianpaul>
I just remenber a Error - can't read bulk data from Ingenic device:64
<kristianpaul>
and me unpluging usb cable and battery
<kristianpaul>
phew, office clip save the day ;)
<kristianpaul>
s/clip/paper clip
<lekernel>
anyone here knows how a helium-3 ring laser gyroscope works?
<lekernel>
apparently helium-3 is classified as a dual-use device because of this very application, and http://www.helium-3.com/ and a few other sources also mentions it, but I cannot find explanations on why helium-3 is useful for that
<kristianpaul>
ask in #highaltitude
<kristianpaul>

<Artyom>
hi kristianpaul
<kristianpaul>
Artyom: hi there
<Artyom>
What is your success with namuru+osgps?
<kristianpaul>
evening ;)
<kristianpaul>
no yet..sorry, i was busy last two weekends
<kristianpaul>
also my laptop power cord broke.. so i dont have laptop at work.. :(
<kristianpaul>
how is yours?
<kristianpaul>
this weekend i'll add the gnuplot support i hope
<kristianpaul>
i'll move to rtems of course :-)
<Artyom>
I had one week vacation... So no new from my side ;)
<kristianpaul>
he :p
<kristianpaul>
Btw you finally implemented the PLL in software right?
<kristianpaul>
for tracking i mean
<Artyom>
yes, in software everything works fine
<kristianpaul>
oh i forgot !
<kristianpaul>
i received some maxim samples
<kristianpaul>
did you finally sent the spare boards?
<Artyom>
acquisition and tracking work fine. Yes I've sent them about two weeks ago. I checked through the web the state of the sending. Last message that I've seen is that it was passed through customs to Colombia.
<kristianpaul>
i can support whatevr you need for shiping and the boards if youc an receiver paypal or bitcoin :)
<kristianpaul>
oh cool !
<kristianpaul>
thanks !
<kristianpaul>
if the aquisition on my side goes wrong i'll consider go back to SoftGNSS with octave
<kristianpaul>
i tried ran osgps in the nanonote but seems 300Mhz are not enoguht..
<kristianpaul>
what hardware specs you had in mind it was a arm SoC i remenber? but how fast?
<kristianpaul>
also i wonder if you are going to drop the Cypress chip too?
<Artyom>
I use ARM7 (72 MHz). And as gpl-gps works with slower ARM I hope that everything will work.
<kristianpaul>
hum..
<kristianpaul>
i need to try gpl-later then :)
<kristianpaul>
ah, but
<kristianpaul>
with namuru
<kristianpaul>
right?
<kristianpaul>
amazing, my M1 board can run up to 90Mhz today so gpl-gps should be okay too :)
<Artyom>
I plan to split design in two parts: analog board with max2769 and digital board with mcu+fpga+cypress+SDRAM.
<Artyom>
gpl-gps is based on osgps (but on old version)
<Artyom>
gpl-gps uses gp4021 - this is ARM7+gp2021-correlator
<kristianpaul>
oh, thats a baseband procesor then
<kristianpaul>
the gp4021
<kristianpaul>
hum so gp4021 run its own firmware or need to be extenally loaded?
<Artyom>
I don't know exact details...
<kristianpaul>
I want to dig more about it
<kristianpaul>
I imagine later adding a firmware to be run in the namuru core it self just for acquisition/tracking
<kristianpaul>
so the main cpu can focus on dealing with position
<kristianpaul>
but thats for later :)
<kristianpaul>
Artyom: so you scilab code is the same from you blog?
<kristianpaul>
i neverd downloaded it.. but i suposed was not for GPS
<kristianpaul>
may be i should..
<Artyom>
You have good plans for future ;) scilab code on my blog is for GLONASS. It is based on Akos code. For example tracking is the same. Some modofications were made because GLONASS differes a little from GPS. And some modifications were made because scilab differes a little from matlab ;)
<kristianpaul>
Artyom: you should try the Akos por for octave :)
<Artyom>
ok, I will try to study octave ;)
<kristianpaul>
no no
<kristianpaul>
just try
<kristianpaul>
is you format still compatible with akos/matlab code?
<kristianpaul>
yes, sorry, i mean the way you are storing your I/Q data
<kristianpaul>
like 16 bit I/Q intervealed or such..
<Artyom>
if you mean file-format - then the answer is "yes".
<kristianpaul>
yup
<kristianpaul>
i think is same used with SoftGNSS, but you can try :)
<Artyom>
it's time to sleep for me ;)
<Artyom>
gn ;)
<kristianpaul>
bye
<kristianpaul>
join back by weekend for new :)
<kristianpaul>
rjeffries: r you offering wolfgang to move back to North America? ;)
<Ayla>
rjeffries: very interesting read
<Ayla>
thank you :)
<rjeffries>
no, wolfpraul is to stay in China. it is the right thing to do. we need feet on the street. ;)
<wpwrak>
"They can’t even imagine that they’ll be able to buy a house." my, are we having lofty standards ? ;-) "And no one will even argue with you." of course not ! not to detract from his plight, but the rhetoric device of framing a condition in the context of a different culture and attacking it from that point of view doesn't get better with age :)
<larsc>
i can imagine buying a house either, but i guess for different reasons
<wpwrak>
larsc: exactly. in some cultures owning a house is quite uncommon. and if you're in a big and rapidly expanding city, it should be even less common. i mean, if you owned some ground near the periphery, it would be surrounded by skyscrapers before too long, and rise dramatically in value. market forces alone would keep the prices inaccessible (well, unless your budget would allow you to put a skyscraper there as well)
<wpwrak>
(cultures/uncommon) or let's say uncommon for many people, dependent on living circumstances not necessarily related to wealth
