I really hope they're succsessful, because it looks like a really cool device. The only thing is that I fell it might not be a great replacement for a phone.

yea ive fancied the gemini too but from my searching, they seam to have not given consideration for free software firmware and drivers for the hardware choices they made. There for, i expect it to be suckly to run a gnu/linux system on. with poor support, lack of updates, and non-free blobs.

yeah, I think the biggest pottle neck is the GPUs, if they would start being open the rest would probably follow.

i really fancy a eoma-68 handheld :). i suspect such a thing would be more likey to have better free software and gnu/linux support.

cus then one can pick the lessor of the evil cpu card avablibe at the time, and swap it out for a more free cpu card in the future.

where the pyras cpu module is limited to pyra only. so we will be lucky to see 1 cpu module upgrade

wheres eoma68 cards are shared between many many devices, there for each new card can be potently enjoyed by every thing.

think there is a few x86 handhelds as well, now at reasoable prices... but I suppose they don't have the same power saving features as some other devices

nice and powerful though, 8gb ram yum yum. for computing specs, it was cheaper then large laptop. idk how cpus compare but for the same price nothing had 8gb ram.

I got a used ThinkPad Carbon X1 2016 for a good price (2000 SEK) but it have a few issues but I can live with it

i meant, its such a struggle to make a device at all, yet projects still make there $device like the big boys do. by designing around a soc. which means it had a more limited life than if it was designed around generic module.

thats kind of what eoma68 does. the ram, cpu, gpu, is in the hard. so a more simple was it 2layer? pcb board can be made for the device (aka housing)

There is a lot of people making handhelds and stuff from embedded boards like raspberry pi, but there is no great solutions for keyboards, usualy people have to use a bluetooth keyboard
