<snakedye> does the view_tags event advertises the tag of all the views on an output?
<snakedye> it's regarding the status protocol
<ifreund> yes

<snakedye> why are all view tag followed by 3 0s? https://i.imgur.com/MdJd3LA.png

<ifreund> snakedye: looks like you're reading an array of 32bit integers as an array of 8 bit integers
<skuzzymiglet> how is wayvnc working for people here? On my 5.5 MB/s connection with 1920x1080 with no framerate limit, it's very laggy, hardly usable
<ifreund> skuzzymiglet: haven't tried it myself, I'd suggest waypipe as a more efficient alternative for most use cases
<ifreund> skuzzymiglet: river also doesn't do damage tracking yet, which is really bad for wayvnc
<skuzzymiglet> oh, I see
<skuzzymiglet> waypipe is wayland-to-wayland isn't it?
<ifreund> yeah, it's essentialy a proxy for wayland that works over the network
<snakedye> @ifreund I also though it was weird the type of the tag for this event was u8 and not u32
<ifreund> <arg name="tags" type="array" summary="array of 32-bit bitfields"/>
<ifreund> says 32 right there :P
<ifreund> an array is just raw bytes on the wire though, it's up to the user to read the protocol and interpert them properly
<snakedye> indeed. the error seems to be on the wayland scanner end https://i.imgur.com/WuZJpyH.png
<ifreund> I wouldn't necessarily call that an error, the scanner can't read the documentation
<ifreund> I'm not sure if wayland-rs provides anything nice to handle this or not
