<novakane[m]> ah llvm12 on void, now it's all good for zig

<ifreund> yep, I spend a few hours yesterday helping q66 push that forward
<ifreund> void zig is now a master snapshot too until 0.8.0 releases, so you'll probably want a static tarball from the website to build river
<novakane[m]> well thanks
<novakane[m]> yeah I saw that, I prefer like this tbh, zig 0.7.1 tarball and zig master as distro package
<novakane[m]> that was my setup on arch
<novakane[m]> so out of curiosity, do some of you use river without xwayland?
<ifreund> Currently my personal blockers for that are spotify and the binding of isaac :D
<ifreund> maybe in a year or so I can stop using it

<ifreund> I also want to eventually explore running all xwayland programs in a nested compositor, similar to cage but with only a wayland backend and better integration with the host system
<ifreund> which would mean I could delete all of rivers xwayland code
<novakane[m]> ah yeah mine are Spotify too and freetube :/
<novakane[m]> oh that's would be really great for sure
<leon-p> obviously the right solution is to write a FOSS binding of isaac clone :P
<ifreund> also I recently discovered that mouse events work fine in xwayland, as long as your window is on a monitor at 0x0
<ifreund> don't really have time to fix that right now though, I've got some more upstream zig work to do and damage tracking this week
<ifreund> FOSS binding of isaac clone would be cool, but I don't think it would get anywhere close to the massive amount of content in rebirth + all the DLCs
<ifreund> (the last DLC came out like a month ago, and its the best one so far)
<leon-p> yeah I have seen streams and been seriously tempted to set up a gaming rig again
<ifreund> at least not in my lifetime
<ifreund> realistically though, wine and electron or whatever spotify uses will probably have wayland support in a year or so
<novakane[m]> I hope so
<novakane[m]> what do you work on in zig upstream now?
<ifreund> I want to fix that zlib thing, and also change the default behavior to only link the system libc if linking other system libraries
<novakane[m]> I wanted to look into zlib but building llvm and co take to loong on my pc tbh

<exception> Electron will get (proper) wayland support in 13 i believe
