asheesh: I was today watching Security Now on my Android phone Chrome browser and Sandstorm was again mentioned and displayed on video stream, here's screenshot: http://www.xet7.org/securitynow570_sandstorm_2016-07-27.png although you'll get better screenshot from highres video that will be released later at https://twit.tv/sn
<ocdtrekkie>
And @jparyani, as mentionned in the PR, I recommend (and did remove, in fact) the F-Droid link, because I'm not the only person who hasn't been able to make it work, and I found an issue filed against it's GitHub about it not working as well.

has anyone ever done anything regarding upgrade messages? In not too long I'm releasing a new davros version that unfortunately causes some desktop sync clients to pop up a one-time scary (but harmless) warning. I think ideally I'd like some sort of dismissable notice about it.
<mnutt>
the only thing that immediately comes to mind is to write a file somewhere that says the user has seen the warning. ideally it'd just warn once per user but I guess once per grain upgrade would be ok.
<mnutt>
or, it may be that there are few enough users / users who understand it's beta and will read the release notes that maybe it's not worth worrying about
<mnutt>
unrelated, I really wish Koken (http://koken.me/) was open source, it would make for a great Sandstorm app. Lychee isn't bad but isn't as customizable as I'd like for presenting photos to others.
<isd>
I got to the step where you "install the virtualbox box" and when I ran that command it prompted me, saying that the box supported multipe providers, which one did I want? I said libvirt. It isn't done.
<isd>
but the doc says that you need to use the mutate plugin to convert it yourself. is that out of date?
<zarvox>
isd: I think I wrote that doc before asheesh went and converted and published a libvirt base box

<frigginglorious>
hey, anyone have any tips on how i can make this happen?
<frigginglorious>
id like to have a ghost CMS grain in the iframe, but have it be completely transparent
larjona has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<frigginglorious>
and just sit transparently on top of the rest of my page. It would save me a lot of hacking at a custom ghost theme, i feel.
<zarvox>
"opacity: .0001;" ?
<dwrensha>
"nope-acity"
larjona has joined #sandstorm
<zarvox>
or "display: none;" ? Not quite sure I understand what you're trying to make happen

<frigginglorious>
zarvox: dwrensha can i get at the theme and modify it? i will have to SSH directly into the grain or somethin, right?
<frigginglorious>
wanted to keep it hosted in SS cuz its easy :P
<zarvox>
oh, I have no idea if you can modify Ghost's CSS. jparyani?
<zarvox>
I imagine you could look in the /var/www/ folder of the grain's storage, which is what currently gets served via static publishing
<zarvox>
I also imagine that ghost might overwrite that every time you publish, so you might have to hunt down the source that produces that CSS in the ghost package and either build your own or something

<frigginglorious>
zarvox: thanks for the tip. gonna try hacker CMS instead :P
<frigginglorious>
ocdtrekkie: hey, you got ghost cms to be statically published, right?
<frigginglorious>
IDK what the heck i’ve been doing wrong
<frigginglorious>
I cant seem to get my namecheap domain to like static publishing
<zarvox>
frigginglorious: what hostname do you want to point at what grain's static publishing directory?
<zarvox>
well, blog.onematchfire.rocks is currently NXDOMAIN
<zarvox>
start by CNAMEing it to frigginglorious.sandcats.io, I think?
<zarvox>
(or A, but then that fails to follow the sandcats dyndns, if you're liable to switch IPs)
<frigginglorious>
zarvox: they are both on the same server
<zarvox>
basically, there's two DNS records you need - one to tell viewer browsers "hey go talk to that Sandstorm server" and one to tell Sandstorm "hey, when you get requests for this domain, serve them from <grain>'s publishing folder"
<frigginglorious>
the same VPS. if that matters
<frigginglorious>
i know ocdtrekkie has it working, he has a post about it on http://blog.jacobweisz.com/ :P
<zarvox>
so, he has an A record for "blog.jacobweisz.com", and then he has a TXT record for "sandstorm-www.blog.jacobweisz.com" with the publicid for the grain
<zarvox>
from where I'm at on the internet, blog.onematchfire.rocks does not yet have an A record, or any other type of record
<zarvox>
so if I were to attempt to open it in a browser, the browser wouldn't know where to send that request
<zarvox>
it sounds like you want it to be the same IP as onematchfire.rocks, so you could add an A record to 104.131.194.78 for blog.onematchfire.rocks
<frigginglorious>
zarvox: oh, did you dig that? I gotta learn how to use dig
<zarvox>
Then the browser would know where to send requests, and then Sandstorm would be like "what is this hostname? I'll look up the TXT record for sandstorm-www.blog.onematchfire.rocks . Oh, there isn't one? I guess I'll show that static-publishing-unconfigured page."
<zarvox>
frigginglorious: I mostly use "host" and "host -t TXT", but with similar results
<frigginglorious>
awesome, thanks man. i will give it a shot!
<zarvox>
Then you'll add the text record for sandstorm-www.blog.onematchfire.rocks with the grain's publicId, and then Sandstorm will know what to serve.
<zarvox>
that "pcnkudca4s3p6ioug1er" is ocdtrekkie's grain's publicId (which is different from the grain ID, which is the thing that shows up in the URL when you're looking at it in Sandstorm's UI)
