kentonv: I emailed xet7 this morning to give him a heads up that the Wekan repos were probably going to see a lot more attention this week. :D
<kentonv>
we're definitely seeing a lot of Wekan demo traffic today

<BlueNinja>
wekan is the new black ;P
<BlueNinja>
btw, cosmetic bug on the wekan board that's got the eraser and marker graphic at the bottom.. if you resize the board, the eraser and marker dont move down with the bottom of the board.
<ocdtr_web>
BlueNinja: Can you report it at github.com/wefork/wekan?
<kentonv>
BlueNinja, are you possibly talking about Scrumblr, the app that is supposed to look like a whiteboard with real index cards on it? I'm not aware of any erasor or marker in Wekan, but Scrumblr has them.
<kentonv>
If so, the ocdtr_web is actually the guy to talk to. :)
<ocdtr_web>
Oh, hah, that does sound like Scrumblr.
<ocdtr_web>
As the maintainer of the Scrumblr package on Sandstorm, I recommend people use Wekan. :P
<BlueNinja>
yeah scrumbler

<ocdtr_web>
Scrumblr has been basically abandoned by it's developer for years, I ported experimentally, and it works. But it is not a very sophisticated or capable app.
<BlueNinja>
gotcha :)
<ocdtr_web>
There are actually some PRs others made for Scrumblr I wanted to add to the Sandstorm package but haven't done.
<ocdtr_web>
You can file an issue at github.com/ocdtrekkie/scrumblr for any issues with it, but there is a decent chance they will not get fixed.
<ocdtr_web>
But my standing advice is that you should probably use Wekan over Scrumblr in nearly all scenarios except when you REALLY REALLY want to make virtual post-it notes on a virtual blackboard.
<BlueNinja>
im not attached to scrumblr .. it looks nicer with the graphics and ability to put a card inbetween two positions, but I can use the official wekan board grain
<ocdtr_web>
I am actually kinda happy to hear someone uses it, and that makes me want to pay some attention to it some point soon. :)
<ocdtr_web>
I did figure there was some value in being able to position notes in arbitrary x, y positions, but couldn't personally think of a valid time I would do so.

I think someone who was a diehard fan of the wekan methodology would argue that its either in one stage or another. (e.g. its either in progress or not, theres no midground)
<BlueNinja>
if someone wanted to kick a task back to, say, "on hold" then they should probably insert a stage in between TODO and IN PROGRESS called WAITINGON or HOLDING

Our team's process can only be captured by a non-simply connected 3 dimensional space.

none of these 2-D Euclidian whiteboards for us.

Well, people have submitted PRs to the upstream Scrumblr repo (abandoned) for an API and import/export features. And Markdown support. At some point I want to grab all those and put them in the Sandstorm package.
<ocdtr_web>
asheesh! Hi!
<asheesh>
Hi ocdtr_web !
<ocdtr_web>
I tagged you in all sorts of things over the holiday!
<ocdtr_web>
\o/
<kentonv>
hey asheesh are you doing mystery hunt?
<asheesh>
I'm not this year! (Also didn't I reply to that email you sent?)
<ocdtr_web>
Kenton merged my docs PR already though.
<kentonv>
asheesh, oh, you did reply, but it got buried.
<asheesh>
i,i berried
<BlueNinja>
out of curiosity TimMc -- isnt there, at some 10,000 altitude major status you can break projects down into? like "SCHEDULED" "IN PROGRESS" "DEPLOYED" "DOCUMENTED" and "DONE" ?
<BlueNinja>
understanding that at a lower altitude there's more variables and attributes a project can have to exist
<ocdtr_web>
I suspect TimMc's tongue was planted firmly in cheek, BlueNinja. :P
<asheesh>
ocdtr_web: Yeah! I have a lot to catch up on. :) I see there's activity in a few of them already, though.
<BlueNinja>
oh. lol :)
<ocdtr_web>
I am going to go endure the snow now.
<BlueNinja>
survive!
<asheesh>
Agreed!
<ocdtr_web>
There is much of it outside, and allegedly there will be more the longer I procrastinate going out.
<TimMc>
Confirmed. We do actually have about 6 categories, although it keeps trying to grow into more. :-)

they create grain(s) ... and then you demote them down one
<BlueNinja>
right now it doesnt remove the grains they created while they were a regular user
<kentonv>
true, though they can't create new ones
<BlueNinja>
should it? should the admin have the option to wipe or suspend the users grains..
<BlueNinja>
right
<BlueNinja>
thsi would tie in with the admin being able to see all grains and usage/space across the whole installation
<BlueNinja>
Im not saying anything is wrong with how it keeps them now. Just that it'd be great if you could have the option
<kentonv>
yeah, there's certainly room for more admin controls
<BlueNinja>
or (if this is cryptographically possible) to adopt their grains they created and now you, as admin, own them
<BlueNinja>
(not sure if sandstorm allows for owner shifts)
