<lixxus>
some posted on reddit in reply to a thread of mine, that soundstorm is no more
<lixxus>
is this untrue
<lixxus>
im really interested in using this software
<lixxus>
and i hope its still being developed
<simpson>
lixxus: Hi. So, first, this is Sandstorm, not Soundstorm, right?
<simpson>
Sandstorm's still a project, and it still has active developers, but the commercial effort has ended. Or at least that's what I've heard; I'm not affiliated.
<lixxus>
sorry typo haha
<lixxus>
i see, so how does the project keep funding itself ?
<simpson>
I have no idea. Sometimes projects don't have funding.
<jemc>
lixxus: the open source software community is full of a great number of volunteer-only projects that have no source of monetary funding - their only currency is the time and effort of their volunteers
<simpson>
Well said.
<lixxus>
i like that because other projects seem to have changed their stategy
<lixxus>
there are other similar solutions which have become too commercialised
<lixxus>
so its good to hear this project is still being maintained and holding true to open source values
