<ArmbianTwitter> @_christianb_ (Christian BELLET): @tjlavoie This is the main reason. Raspbian did a pretty good job but now, Armbian is mature enough. There is a large panel of boards you can choose from. You can even have boards with a Sata port (Odroid HC2). On the opposite, Rpi is more limited. (24s ago)

<Werner> IgorPec, something particular to take a look at when testing U-boot 2020.04 against devices?
<IgorPec> no, just the basics - boot, few reboots
<IgorPec> and display for u-boot is disabled by @jernej recommendation
<Werner> Okay. Will do my build cycle on AR-196 and see what happens
<IgorPec> perhaps one a64 device and some random that is not Opi PC2 or Nanopi M1 which I already tested
<Werner> I can test OPi One, One Plus and Zero Plus H5
<IgorPec> perfect

<abananabread> hello
<Werner> Hi
<abananabread> Can i ask if i can use ZFS with Armbian on a Nanopi m4?
<Werner> Sure you can ask, however not sure if I can answer this question :D
<Werner> Seems like it has been two years since the last time someone took a look into zfs with Armbian so well... it is not officially support obviously but you are always free to experiment with the tools that are provided :)
<abananabread> i see..
<abananabread> i'm a newbie when it comes to linux..
<abananabread> i had in mind building a NAS with a Nanopi m4 + 4x sata hat with a distro that supports arm64...
<abananabread> and can run ZFS...
<Werner> Ah okay. I though you mean something like having ZFS as your root directory or something.
<Werner> If you have your OS on the sd or emmc you can do with your SATA disks whatever you want including ZFS
<abananabread> ah... i see....
<Werner> As soon as Armbian runs on your sbc you can continue using manuals for the designated OS like Ubuntu Bionic or Debian Buster. Pretty sure there are ZFS tutorials for both out there.
<abananabread> thank you wener
<abananabread> *werner typing error
<Werner> Youre welcome
<lanefu> abananabread: you'll want to use armbian-config to install kernel headers
<lanefu> rather than apt in those instructiosn
<lanefu> otherwise should be able to follow the zfs docs

<lanefu> abananabread: nah there's a command line tool on your armbian image called armbian-config
<lanefu> you shouldnt need to build a custom image
<Herc> hmm, reboot is borked on my odroidC2 :( armbian 5.4.28-meson64 #20.02.8 SMP PREEMPT Mon Mar 30 09:12:52 CEST 2020 aarch64 GNU/Linux
<Herc> buster and bulleyes, shuts down but doesn't come up again, power cycle needed

<lanefu> Whats wrong with just building an image from the armbian build tools https://github.com/armbian/build
<lanefu> Or using an armbian minimal image?
<IgorPec> we have board config and family (similar boards around one SOC) ... what exactly do you want to achieve? R0b0t1`
<IgorPec> hi lanefu
<lanefu> Hey IgorPec
<IgorPec> i made some cleanings on the u-boot side
<IgorPec> for sunxi, i think we are done with upping to 2020.04, the only left is rockchip tinkerboard ... not worth the troubles i would say
<IgorPec> and ofc exotics
<ArmbianTwitter> @FriedCatfist (Джо С): @SuzuDev How'd you install armbian? (7s ago)
<lanefu> okay awesome... so we have 2020.04 uboot for most rockchips, but not TinkerBoard?
<IgorPec> i think for all 64bit
<lanefu> cool
<IgorPec> also meson64
<lanefu> Herc mentioned some rebooting issues with his C2 earlier... but need more info https://freenode.irclog.whitequark.org/armbian/2020-04-17#26827878;
<IgorPec> i read. it doesn't happens to me
<lanefu> every RK2288 SoC must be a snowflake
<lanefu> lol
<IgorPec> hard to tell. perhaps network doesn't come up?
<lanefu> yeah we don't know if its stuck on halt, or u-boot, or just something partially initialized on startup
<IgorPec> yeah, more info, defenetly
