<lkcl> buZz, hum?
<buZz> imx8 looks like a worthy chip nowadays
<buZz> i was reading that etnaviv driver got GC7000 support
<lkcl> that's very cool
<lkcl> i'm currently investigating what it would take to turn RISC-V into a GPU
<buZz> O_o
<buZz> i assume, a lot :D
<lkcl> surprisingly maybe not
<buZz> but i did notice linaro is making sure PCIe works well on ARM nowadays
<buZz> are you gonna make a PCIe GU?
<buZz> GPU*
<lkcl> no, a SoC.
<buZz> but seperate from system SoC ?
<lkcl> http:libre-riscv.org/shakti/m_clss/
<lkcl> no. takes too much power
<buZz> 404
<lkcl> http:libre-riscv.org/shakti/m_class/
<buZz> GPUs kinda exist to use much power
<lkcl> not if they're integrated
<buZz> as ARM is getting more and more mature (cavium ATX boards etc) , ARM users will really want proper GPUs
<lkcl> and also surprisingly it's the 1st level cache loads that consume significant power
<lkcl> well, they can always plug in NVIDIA Cards, like TL Lim demo'd at FOSDEM2018, with the RK3399.
<buZz> yeah, with nouveaux driver
<buZz> we'll need better though
<lkcl> the RK3399 i believe has a 4-lane PCIe
<buZz> hmhm, you dont need >1 lane for decent speeds any way
<lkcl> i'm focussing on smaller first. embedded.
<lkcl> because i have an anonymous sponsor that needs that
<buZz> not so interesting imho :)
<lkcl> and there's a business case, so that's where my focus goes
<buZz> i'm glad i'm no longer depending on a dayjob ^_^
<lkcl> :)
<lkcl> hey apologies it's nearly 2am here i have to go. sorry it's brief
<lkcl> ttyl buZz
<buZz> ;) np
<buZz> sleep tight
