Hello. I noticed OP_RETURN data requirements switched from checking if a single pushdata contained 40 bytes, to checking if the entire script is pushdata only AND the whole script is no more than 82 bytes.

Question: Does 82 bytes include the OP_RETURN (6a) byte in its count?

dabura667: it's just policy, and off-topic here; try #bitcoin
Isn't there a channel with more devs and less noise than #bitcoin and that doesn't specify a specific repository (#bitcoin-dev) and isn't restricted to "theoretical ideas" (whatever that means)?

Luke-Jr: Though I would argue that *because* this is a policy, my question would be better phrased as: "Theoretically, if my node ran the latest bitcoind, would it consider OP_RETURNs with 82 bytes after the OP byte (6a) as isStandard?"
dabura667: #bitcoin-dev is not a specific repository, but it is only for development
and your question is a user question

Or "Theoretically, is the current opreturn behavior good for crypto? Let's start the discussion by defining specifically the current behavior."

"As defined by bitcoind"
dabura667: this is all off-topic since it is not about Bitcoin at all
policies are just a node preference, nothing more
