bip9 is just coordination
<jtimon>
until it's not deployed it's not "deployed" in any sense
<jtimon>
of course "deploy" is a node-by-node choice

<Taek>
The recent scaling bitcoin was at least partially dedicated to fungibility. It's something that a lot of people seem to be working on right now, I think the conference would be successful
<Taek>
I was unable to find anything quite like this, but I wouldn't be surprised if the idea already exists somewhere:
<Taek>
use stealth addresses to break apart transactions
<Taek>
When doing blockchain analysis, one of the most significant methods of de-anonymization (as far as I understand) is looking at places where multiple outputs are used in the same transaction
<Taek>
but with stealth addresses, you can make a payment to someone without ever combining outputs
<Taek>
For each output you make a different transaction, and then that transaction has either 1 or 2 outputs (depending on change), and you end up with 5 or 6 transactions all going towards the same payment
<Taek>
but it's not obvious to an observer that all of the transactions have the same origin

<Taek>
The disadvantage is that ouitputs can only get smaller. But maybe there's some way to combine outputs in separate steps without revealing too much information.
