hello
<Bundestrojaner>
i'm searching for a SoC. It seems that everything is faster than the raspberry pi and the cubieboard looks really nice.
<Bundestrojaner>
But I always read that RPi is the only SoC with working hw accelleration because ever other SoC's GPU (Mali 400) is not supported by Linux.
<Bundestrojaner>
Is that problem already solved?

Bundestrojaner: What kind of hardware acceleration do you speek of? Video, 2D, 3D, ...?
<Bundestrojaner>
3d
<Bundestrojaner>
rellla: 2d would also be interesting, video is not very important for me (but would also nice of course)
<rellla>
limadriver.org is the attempt to reengineer the mali gpu, but it's not a driver yet
<Bundestrojaner>
ok, thx :)

Hello, i am having a AA-C80 rev1.1 with linaro lubuntu running on it. My problem is that it doen't recognize my usb3.0 harddrives
<KlausedSource>
"dmesg | grep USB" says it registered the xhci-hcd bus and assigned a number, but nothing more
<KlausedSource>
i am a little lost, where is the kernel located? can i make menuconfig it?

<rellla>
KlausedSource: first, it's called CC-A80
<rellla>
second, only a few people own A80 devices at all. even only a few developers afaik
<KlausedSource>
well, that is not nice
<KlausedSource>
i got this thing for 3 month already and everything is broken. why do they even ship?
<rellla>
third, if you want to get some help, ask your question and wait. listing 103 people in this channel does not mean, that everyone is online and reading.
<rellla>
and fourth :p
<rellla>
it's called a development board :)
<KlausedSource>
at this time i call it thing, because it might be in a developing state but is not developed yet ;S
<KlausedSource>
so anyways. this is my first cubieboard, can someone tell me where the **** the kernel is located and if i can just recompile it to my needs or are there restrictions?
federico3 has joined #cubieboard
<KlausedSource>
sorry but i am a little mad
<KlausedSource>
i just feel like i got scammed 200€
<rellla>
KlausedSource: The kernel binary should reside on the first partition of your sd card /dev/mmcblk0p1 and the modules in /lib of your root partition - like with every kernel.
federico3 has left #cubieboard [#cubieboard]
<rellla>
what does uname -va say?
<KlausedSource>
rellla, i only know kernel under /usr/src/linux
<rellla>
yeah, you surely need the source. i doubt, that you will find it within your distribution.
<rellla>
you have to find out, what kernel is used, then find the .config
<rellla>
i don't know what's used in linaro lubuntu
<KlausedSource>
rellla, well the kernel is Linux cubieboard4 3.4.39
* rellla
hates git kernel repos without a complete history
<KlausedSource>
rellla, ye i've seen that too. but the whole arm thing is a little too complicated and my chinglish is too bad to learn. all i want is run owncloud on the device. guess i will use the usb 2.0 for now and when all is up and running i might play around with the other stuff
<rellla>
KlausedSource: building your own kernel from source will be one of the easier tasks
smccarthy has quit [Quit: Leaving...]
<KlausedSource>
rellla, ye the building is not the problem but compiling and making it run on a not well documented system just doesnt fit in my timeframe
