<marcan> esden: btw, I don't think I ever asked, but the fiducial stuff is fine right? :-)
<marcan> I think I followed some random best practice thing I found somewhere

<esden> marcan: so far they seem fine. I usually use the 1mm diameter ones. But I will see if they are fine when I finally have everything set up and using them. I do not see currently a reason why they would not work. :D Thanks for putting them on there! :D

<lxdr> (if it can be of any interest / not already known)
<whitequark> never heard of it
<whitequark> seems like a very different device
<gruetzkopf> the PnP setup software looks annoying
<whitequark> isn't that all cnc software

<davidc__> PnP software is typically annoying. Less annoying if you can directly import centroids
<davidc__> Incredibly annoying if you need to setup each part by hand with vision
<whitequark> whaat
<whitequark> do you mean some CNC software only lets you define offsets by physically moving the gantry?
<davidc__> whitequark: pretty much all let you import centroids
<davidc__> however, sometimes your CAD software and CNC software disagree, or you have terrible CAD libraries
<whitequark> oh.
<whitequark> well that's really depressing to contemplate
<davidc__> whitequark: yes. I wrote scripts to automate CAD->PnP at $VERYOLDJOB
<davidc__> previously, the first time a board was run, they would manually place every part with the PNP and save the job
<davidc__> Also, things like generic components in reels are really annoying
<davidc__> IE, some LED reels have the anode on one side; some have it on the other
<davidc__> so if you have a few vendors in the mix, you need to doublecheck your setup every time you change the reel.....
<gruetzkopf> and some have both variants available
<gruetzkopf> as -O and -0 in t/n
<whitequark> do you ever get a really strong desire to get drunk by proxy, just listening to someone's story
<gruetzkopf> *p/n
<davidc__> Also, some PnP vendors don't let you edit the visual recognition template
<davidc__> so you need to re-learn the recognition template as well as re-set rotations when you change the reel
<gruetzkopf> aaaaa
<davidc__> (at least most vendors let you do that on a per-feeder basis. One particularly terrible one associated absolute rotation + visual recognition on a per-placement basis.... )
<davidc__> Ooh, and even better. If you have terrible hand created CAD libraries, there may be no convention for absolute rotation of parts. So the red LED 0603 footprint might be 180deg from the green LED 0603 footprint
<davidc__> Because two different people created those parts, each with their own footprint
<gruetzkopf> aaaa
